I wish I could recommend this game, but I just can't. The controls are awful in every mode, and for a game released in 2026, there's no excuse for not letting players customize them. The camera movement is a nightmare.3 found this helpful
If you consider yourself a die-hard fan of original Resident Evil, especially the fixed-camera era, Echoes of the Living is an absolute must-play. I am currently about 7 hours into the campaign, and it has been an incredible, nostalgic experience that feels like a modern evolution of the genre's golden age. Atmosphere & Presentation: The game nails the tone from the jump. The graphics and animations are fantastic, creating an immersive, dread-filled environment that makes every corridor feel dangerous. Classic Mechanics: For those of us who grew up with fixed-camera angles, this feels like coming home. The level design is a highlight, featuring intelligent backtracking and deeply satisfying shortcuts that make navigating the map feel like a rewarding puzzle in itself. Controls & Combat: The controls feel responsive and precise, which is essential for survival horror. I’ve been particularly impressed with the melee combat, it feels visceral and surprisingly satisfying, adding an extra layer of strategy when you need to conserve ammo. A Few Things to Note The Difficulty Curve: The difficulty is no joke. I initially started on Hard mode and managed to soft-lock myself—something th…
I really liked the game but there are few things that needs adjustments. A bug that gets you stuck even when the enemy dies it kills progress specially if it's been an hour since your last save. This is the same for when an enemy gets you cornered and the reload animation takes too long to finish this can be solved if you allow the player to reload a gun by combining the ammo with the gun in inventory menu like on other classic survival horror games and lastly the door icons needs to be added in the map since there is a ton of backtracking involved in the game i mean the optional doors that can be opened with the tools. But still i am looking forward to a more polished final version of the game in the future.
About 6 hours into the game and I can honestly say, its pretty great. Im a RE nerd and when it comes to this, it feeds that itch of a puzzle, horror game. Unexpected, yet expected jumpscares. You can either use tank controls or modern (Love that feature). Only encounter a bug or two there, however without spoiling much, this game is 100% worth the price. Do not need much to run this game either, it looks great but it is not a demanding game from what I can tell so far.
So I played this game for less than an hour. So far I love it, it reminds me of older Resident Evil games and Silent Hill 2. Having a blast, from what I can tell the game is locked at 60 fps. I'm hoping there will be a bit more options at launch of the game. If you love classic survival horror games you'll love this.
I have enjoyed this game, I have not finished it yet but it is very good. It is a lot of game for the money as it stands now. When the other scenario is added it will be awesome.
