F.E.A.R.: Perseus Mandate

I think both the expansions are better than the base game if I'm honest. I think Perseus Mandate had the best overall gameplay, and Extraction Point was the scariest of them. (Though due to the age of the games, I wouldn't say they were that scary. It was mostly atmosphere in Extraction Point.) Pretty good though, I liked that they had new weapons in both the expansions so it made the gunplay a little less repetitive.

Longer than FEAR:EP but with a new character and story only adjacent to the original game. 7/10

The last official expansion of F.E.A.R., Perseus Mandate, from TimeGate Studios leans much more into the action than both the base game and Extraction Point allowing the player more time to experience the amazing gunplay the first game introduced. I thought the level design here was for the most part excellent, intuitive, and some areas were especially expansive and made great use of set pieces. When there is horror it is excellent, and it is fun getting to experience some of the same events from the original game from a different perspective. Fans of F.E.A.R. know what to expect, awesome liminal horror atmosphere, top notch hard boiled action with particle effects flying everywhere after every gunshot, and intelligent AI enemies that tactically try to overwhelm the player. I had a tremendous amount of fun with this game, and having now completed the entire franchise it has cemented itself amongst my very favourite games. For fans of the series I think Perseus Mandate is a must play, and for horror and fps fans as well. I am not sure why it is so derided, my only complaint with the game is that some of the later levels did feel a bit samey and repetitive, but there is nothing…
