About Farabel

Farabel is a turn-based strategy game where you start at the end of the story; but that’s not all. In Farabel, the whole gaming experience is turned upside-down.
You start your adventure with a hero at maximum power. With each jump into the past, your character is left slightly weakened, as the game become more and more complex. Develop your cleverness, your strategic prowess, and your inventive capabilities in order to survive!
  • Campaign Mode: Play as Cendor, lord of Farabel. Go back in time to save the city in a campaign of 26 epic and challenging battles.
  • Challenge Mode: Fight a new battle every day, and compete with other players in a new season every month.
  • Classic Mode: Build your own army by purchasing units and war machines. Destroy your enemy as quickly as possible and with the least amount of casualties to become a hero! This game mode allows you to play through a series of different battles.
  • Defence Mode: Build your own army by purchasing units. In Defence mode, you take on an endless army which is impossible to beat. Survive for as long as possible and kill as many enemies as you can to become a hero.
  • 40 different units
  • 18 different spells and abilities

the tactics bit is actually pretty fun... but i wish i could decide anything. The best option is usually pretty obvious (particularly in the "strategy" portion) and the time travel gets boring fast. But that didn't make me quit. You cant save in level and i got a gamebreaking bug with an invisible and invulnerable ballista that shredded my team. Since you cant just reload, this game isn't fun enough to replay a level I've already figured out. And then it had the audacity to ask me for a review... so here it is. 4/10 pretty boring, neat idea executed poorly.

I'd say don't bother. The one thing that obviously stands out (playing backwards in time, starting fully skilled and becoming less and less powerful as the campaign goes on) loses its charm relatively quickly, followed by the rough realisation that the gameplay offers no actual strategy/tactics and takes away any choice. And you know, for a gaming experience that only offers a single playstyle, I would pick a heavily story driven game instead.

Lacks some functionalities sadly. - Things written on the map, my character HP, are relatively tiny on high resolutions, and can't be zoomed. - What units have already acted or not is not always easily seen. They seem to be greyed out, but it's tricky to be sure without double checking. - There is no key to switch the focus from one unit to the next on, ou have to scoll the camera on the map to reah each. - You can't save - You can't choose the graphic resolution - There is no windowed fullscreen - the tutorial doesn't warn us about what skills are finite and what aren't, and you can't figure it out yourself in the tutorial level because it's not freely playable, you will figure it out and strategize poorly during you first real combat. The concept is interesting but feels werd: you're not sure what's the point of playing. Not sure if it's fun to play, but it's still cool. I didn't really feel like it was worth the time to finish it, so I took the exprience and uninstalled it. But since it has Cloud Saving, I can still finish it later. So All in all, ok, it's a decent little game.

Leveling down instead of up is not a mechanic I've seen before (do I just live under a rock? IDK) but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd like to see it in other games. It's a good little game, fun to play, not too long.

Super fun, simple but complex -- very clever design.

Only played a few levels, but like the diverse play. Planning synergy bonuses, damage, hit points, and movement on the battlefield. Custom leader abilities give it a personal touch. Custom battle keeps it interesting. I'm looking forward to where the campaign goes. The light tutorial keeps it simple and enjoyable.
