About Forspoken

✦ AI summary

Uncover the mysteries of a magical land called Athia after being mysteriously transported from New York City, wielding powerful spells and a sentient bracelet to battle corrupted creatures and confront the maddened Tantas who once ruled. Explore a stunning open world with magic-enhanced parkour and customizable spell-casting combat as you search for a way home in this action-adventure epic.

Mysteriously transported from New York City, Frey Holland finds herself trapped in the breathtaking land of Athia. A magical, sentient bracelet is inexplicably wrapped around her arm, and Frey discovers the ability to cast powerful spells and use magic to traverse the sprawling landscapes of Athia. Frey nicknames her new golden companion “Cuff” and sets off to find a way home.

Frey soon learns this beautiful land once flourished under the reign of benevolent matriarchs, called Tantas, until a devastating blight relentlessly corrupted everything it touched. The Break  transformed animals into beasts, men into monsters, and rich landscapes into four dangerous realms. At the center of their shattered domains, the Tantas now rule as maddened and evil sorceresses.

Unaffected by the Break and desperate for answers, Frey reluctantly agrees to help the last remaining citizens of Athia who see her as their only hope. Frey’s journey through this strange and treacherous land will take her deep into the heart of corruption where she must battle monstrous  creatures, confront the powerful Tantas, and uncover secrets that awaken something much more from within.

i could have gotten over the hilariously bad dialogue if the gameplay was even remotely interesting or had any sense of weight or it felt like i was actually doing anything at all. at least make me aim at the enemy if all im gonna do is stand back and spam R2. not even a fun bad game unfortunately. looked a bit pretty at least

"Luminous engine" you say? There is nothing "exceptionally glowing, bright, or beautiful," one of many possible definitions for the word luminous, that can be said about this games performance. It's a stuttering, clunky, mess. I am on a roll with being a victim of trailers, and "captive" & wholly unrealistic gameplay trailers it would seem. I feel like when [attempting to play more than] playing games recently it's been like trying to win the lottery with an expired ticket, that doesn't have the winning numbers on it anyway dude. I would love to download a game, get it playing, LIKE IT, and leave a glowing review—people might start to think I'm a negative person with the almost excluesively negative game reviews I've been writing of late.

Played this game on both PS and steam. As a new gamer, this was perfect for me. Just enough combat with just enough story. The first playthrough, I only used one set of powers all the way through and some battles went fast with this approach and other took longer. On the second playthrough, I used all of them and Tanta Olas' powers were my favorite :) Also, I did researched how and when the game was made so the dialogue didn't bother me as much as it did for others. Overall, I loved the game and the world building.

Love this game - the magic, the story, the characters, all of it. Enjoyed the banter between Frey and Cuff. The game is huge and because I'm a bit OCD I loved doing/collecting everything.
