You have torn down the magical barrier and released the prisoners of the Mine Valley. Now the former criminals of the forests and mountains are causing trouble around the capital of Khorinis. The town militia is powerless due to their low amount of force–outside of the town, everyone is helpless against the attacks of the bandits.

Gothic II is a timeless classic that any RPG fan should experience. The Gothic series has always had a strong sense of progression and accomplishment, and in this game it is at its strongest. Starting weak, powerless, and with nothing to your name, then ending up a mighty hero makes the journey compelling. Getting there may take a long time and the path may not always be clear, but it is always challenging and rewarding. All of the gameplay aspects have been polished from the first game. No more holding one key and pressing another to perform many actions. Inventory management has taken a step forward, with the UI being much easier to navigate and displaying more information. Combat feels very similar to the first game, though it benefits from the control scheme changes. The melee weapon skills are a little odd, as your damage is essentially reduced until you gain more experience with the skill. This game offers an incredible adventure in such a small area. Every corner of the map is full of enemies, items, and quests. Exploring everything is incredibly satisfying.
