Players are divided on What's Past is Portents. Supporters praise the voice acting, art style, and storytelling potential, with several noting clear improvements in the DLC compared to the base game and expressing enthusiasm for future content. Critics argue the game feels derivative of existing vampire fiction without establishing its own identity, complaint about overwrought prose, and question the decision to pursue DLC and sequels before fully polishing the foundation.
What's Past is Portents felt like your typical vampire fan fiction, just with a bit of rebranding here and there. It didn't feel like it was building a unique word, but rather reshuffling regularly used concepts with minor changes. If the goal is to create something original, it definitely needs further work to distance itself from existing media. The overall experience currently feels more like a work in progress, not a fully realised release. Because of this, I find it all the more baffling that there's already DLC and two other games in the works over building and polishing the foundation they have here. The writing is okay, I guess. Not terrible, but definitely not great either. A lot of the time it felt like it was throwing unnecessary wording in there for the sake of it, to bulk it out instead of say anything substantial, this made already unengaging dialogue feel even longer. The overall structure of the story also made it quite difficult to become invested in. It's a short game but despite th…2 found this helpful

Interesting story. Looking forward to more in the future.2 found this helpful
Enjoyable to read and listen to. The stories included in the DLC really show how much and how quickly the creator is learning as he goes when compared to Issac's story in the free base game. The plots are more developed as are the choice elements, the voice acting is fantastic and the artwork really matches the atmosphere of each story. The obvious improvements really show his passion for Harrowed World as a whole; I look forward to future releases from this team. Quite the Must-Have game for the Spooky Season.1 found this helpful
I looked into the game for the first time today and I quite enjoyed it! The voice acting is smooth and fits the characters well, while the art style is both nostalgic and nice to look at, doesn't hurt that it wouldn't feel out of place in a game that I would have seen/played while growing up! I am looking forward to what the future stories will bring.1 found this helpful
