Overview:
Ultherst was once a peaceful, God-fearing land until the Three Scourges of God came to pass as foretold by Saint Ezekiel, one of the twelve followers of the First Prophet. First came the famine that devasted the populace. Next came the plague that added more unfortunate souls on Death’s abacus. Finally came the great rain of fire, and death fell down on sinner and innocent alike, blood flooding the streets in place of water. The people, in their desperation, turned away from the Holy Mother Church and delved deep into pagan decadence or succumbed to the temptation of the Devil. You have been charged with the office of Inquisitor. It is up to you to investigate crimes against the one true faith and root out heresy--using any and all means necessary. As in all best computer RPGs--the most important choices are yours to make.
Inquisitor is a unique blend of action-oriented combat with a deep and involving tale of betrayal, torture, madness, and infernal damnation. Put your wits to the test as you collect evidence against possible heretics and put them to trial once they have been charged. Use the might of the Inquisition to extract a confession from your subjects, but be warned, use your power wisely or you will face the consequences. If a gritty old-school open-ended isometric RPG is what you looking for, look no further. Inquisitor will provide you with hours of gameplay and a dark, involving story.

I rather just play Balders Gate 3 if I'm being honest. Just too old and rough for my liking.8 found this helpful
Inquisitor is a dark fantasy role-playing game developed and published by CINEMAX GAMES that embraces a level of complexity, maturity, and ambition rarely seen within the genre. Set in a world consumed by religious extremism, plague, political instability, and supernatural horrors, the game places players in the role of an agent of the Holy Office whose duty is to investigate crimes against faith and confront threats both human and monstrous. Combining traditional role-playing mechanics with detective work, moral decision-making, and a massive narrative structure, Inquisitor offers an experience that is far more concerned with storytelling and immersion than accessibility or instant gratification. The game's setting is one of its most compelling strengths. The kingdom of Ultherst is portrayed as a land on the brink of collapse, where fear and superstition influence every aspect of society. Disease spreads through villages, corruption infects institutions, and ordinary citizens live under the constant threat of both religious persecution and supernatural danger. This bleak backdrop creates an atmosphere unlike most fantasy RPGs, replacing heroic adventure with a grim examination of…1 found this helpful
(minor spoiler) First, I thought the game was pretty good: a solid RPG, original story, amount of dialogs that could rival planescape torment. It's a long game: eventually completely repetitive dungeon crawling bored me, but I still wanted to finish the game. Then, when I thought I was close, I hit a wall. A script bug that broke the game in act3. I talked to people and received quests in the "wrong" order, and now the guy named Commendoni would not give me a certain permission. Steam forum has this issue with no solution. In general, this game has very few walkthroughs or forums. Anything goes wrong, and you are on your own. I am definitely NOT replaying the whole act3 because of this issue. Deleting the game forever.
Extremely engaging game, story extremely interesting and thrilling. Love the music, which completely sets the tone and the epoch. Would love to play a sequel.
Quite simply, it's not worth it. Nor does it deserve a pity good review, like the other positive reviews it has. While the world may be interesting and there are a good chunk of quests to complete, the gameplay is simply too bland, repetitive and tedious. It's not a "hidden gem" nor a unfairly forgotten game. it’s simply a bad game. That's why it's gone unnoticed and why there are barely a couple of guides: those who started it simply got bored and gave up (having finished it, I can say they didn’t miss too much). That said, the art and music do the job well. No complaints there.
This is probably my favorite RPG. The story, atmosphere, and immersion are excellent! Just excellent! But thank goodness I took someone's advice to play as a priest. Completed the game on the Medium difficulty in 100 hours. Combat can be grinding, challenging and frustrating at times. But at times it also felt rewarding. Can't say it was horrible. The atmosphere in this game is just amazing! Keep playing Inquisitor guys and never stray from your holy mission!
