About Into The Inferno

Into The Inferno is a retro-style first-person dungeon crawler RPG with turn-based combat.

Six years ago, a mine near your town exploded, killing eleven brave miners whose bodies were never recovered. The mine has been burning ever since, and demons have been spotted in the area.

A neighbor witnessed children from your town being kidnapped by demons, and it's up to you to delve into the mines and rescue them, if it's not already too late.

Lead a party of adventurers through the wilderness, a hostile Orc village, a town of violent Gnolls, and many levels of winding caverns and burning brimstone tunnels. Gather experience and equipment to improve your chances of defeating the demon horde to rescue the children and return them home where they belong. Help recover the remains of the lost miners to give their families closure, and eliminate the demon threat once and for all.

If you like this game, please check out the sequel, Crossing The Sands, which released in 2024.

Old school blobber. Really good QOL features. Except it is an old school blobber so no hand-holding kiddie markers and danger alerts as in todays game. Thing is, if you just look at numbers go up and enemy numbers go down with no imagination, you are missing the point of blobbers. These games evolved directly from D&D tabletop games. You need to have an active imagination to play these types of games. Every encounter should look like D&D artwork from modules or other fantasy artwork. For example: You move onto a square and encounter 3 goblins. You can just hit the attack button 6 times and screen says you won the battle. minor experience gain, minor gold gain. done. If you play games this way you are going to get bored VERY QUICKLY. OR: same situation above but in your imagination..... Your characters are in forest, and break through some vision obscuring vegetation, the goblins are feasting on a dead deer and spring to attack. Now picture this as a movie scene. See your characters weapons and armor, hear their grunts as they swing, see a warrior miss as the goblin dodges aside only to have its head bashed in by a companion, complete with gore and blood splatters on your heroes…

Good old school fun. If a bit basic.. Pretty much just fight monsters , level up and get semi-cool random loot. There are no treasure chests (well after a battle like 2% of hte time it says you found a chest, but its not really one as it doesn't even guarantee any loot, just slightly more gold than youd otherwise get in a normal fight (and actually gold quickly becomes useless in this game, as there's only a few starter shops with basic gear which doesn't take long to get all of) and a trap, nothing really to it) , no secrets, and aside from the final boss, actually not a single visible enemy or much on the map, just random encounters. Game is pretty slow so i sped it up with the well known speed hack that works on pretty much all unity games. Finished the game in under half the time it usually takes. More fun that way. Game does include a nice option to make combat quite fast, so it was mostly for faster movement.. (and the game does have a lot of running around, as early on you have to backtrack to town for healing a lot, and later there are some quests DEEP into the wilderness/caves which you'd inclined to return to town and turn in for reward). There is an exit spell, but it o…

If you liked Legend of Grimrock (or are a big fan of old school Dungeon Crawlers) and you're looking for more, maybe this game is for you. Stuff I liked: - Lots of classes and really cool looking portraits to choose from. - Lots of stats and abilities. - Loved the fact that there's a feedback button in the in game menu to report stuff. - Clear tiled map ui. A few suggestions: - The initial town has too many locations and too many quests. It can feel a bit overwhelming to explore at first, I'd consider reducing it in size to keep things simple at start. And unlock a 2nd part of the city once the player has returned after some battles. - Not being able to see the enemies on the main camera leads to sudden fights which I might not want to do. - In battles, it'd be cool to see as many sprites of the same enemy as there are (instead of a single one). Maybe they could line up one behind another. - It looks I cannot choose which enemy to attack? Which could possibly lead to characters not hitting what would be my intended target. Or maybe there's some rule that I haven't discovered... but I didn't find it clear. - It'd be nice to see the keyboard shortcuts for actions during combat. - W…

👍 Recommended (for old-school dungeon crawler fans) Into The Inferno is a throwback blobber clearly made by someone who loves the classics. If you’re into Wizardry or Might & Magic, there’s a lot to like—turn-based combat, party building, buff management, and slow, satisfying progression. The early game is great: exploring small dungeons like goblin and orc camps, tough early fights, and slowly getting stronger. I loved being able to import my own character portraits, and the spellcasting system has a nice variety, especially the shaman class. That said, the main dungeon eventually gets too big and messy. The map UI is clunky, there’s no fast travel, and backtracking between floors becomes tedious quickly. Combat is functional but barebones (no animations), and gear upgrades stay pretty flat throughout. The game music is irritating —almost I turned it down. I play with my own music or an audiobook. The dev is active on the forums and even took some of my suggestions into account, which was awesome. However, sometimes feedback goes unanswered, which can be somewhat disappointing. 🎯 Verdict: If you’re a fan of old-school dungeon crawlers and don’t mind a little jank, this is a…

This is a fun, simple, Dungeon crawler. It’s basic, much more so than say Bard’s Tale. However it does scratch a similar itch. There is the odd bug which is annoying, didn’t stop me enjoying the game though. There is a free demo which contains a massive section of the game, you may as well try it first. I spent maybe 30 hours on this in total. (All levels fully explored, all quests done) Recommended game.
