Liminal Exit

Note: Got from a humble bundle. Did not purchase directly, but not 'free'. I guess this qualifies as liminal space? I had always mentally thought of anomaly spotting games as their own genre, but I can see the overlap. The game has three levels of different objects to scan, similar to other games like "Anomaly Exit" and "Shinkansen 0" which each have two levels. The drawback for me in Liminal Exit is that there is too little going on in each level, and the majority of anomalies too obvious to make spotting more than a quick walkthrough which makes it unchallenging. The anomalies that took you to different liminal locations were far more interesting (if a gimmie) but those were also too few and far between. Challenge is fun, novelty is fun, and I think this game doesn't know what it wants to be between the two. The game, or the developer behind it really, has a lot of potential. Leaning into one of the two elements of challenge/novelty would be a great step in the next game, and I do hope there is a next game from them. Very short but fun

overall gameplay is good, good graphics, good artstyle. if you're somebody who likes to 100% in games acheivements youll need paitence for this one. i got all but one in 3.5 hours of repettitive nonstop cycling through and for the remaining 4.5 ish hours i was trying for the final achievement. theres no system to see the new anomalies its really by luck or brute force. the continuous cycling through dulled the experiece and a new bug that occassionally occurs where you make it the end elevator only to be transported back to the starting one was annoying but not hard to manage. overall pretty good, the concept is great and the anomalies itself was alright.

Fun games, loved the premise. I wish there was more of it. Finding the anomalies makes for a good puzzle, with a dose of backrooms weirdness for atmosphere.

An Exit 8 like game that tried to take my GPU with it Warning: this thing is optimized like dogs**t, my pc sounded like a boeing attempting takeoff to render some empty hallways, EMPTY HALLWAYS!! I had to use an external program just to cap the fps before my rig achieved flight, a game about walking through liminal corridors should not be a fire hazard That said, once I stopped my computer from committing self immolation, the game is entertaining, Its Exit 8 formula: walk the loop, spot the anomaly, push a button if something is off or if all the trip was normal, some anomalies are great and creepy, the good kind but, Bro, you'd need to be a certified autist with a magnifying glass and a conspiracy board to notice some of these on the first pass, the third tile from the left is 2% darker, type sh**t, Thankfully when you f**k up, a tv tells you what you missed, which is a nice touch, like a disappointed dad reviewing your failures But be warned, it's slow, its repetitive, and yeah, it can be boring.
