Lunacid - Tears of the Moon

Horrific FOV, abysmal controls, minimal story... ah, a true King's Field-like!!! Joking aside, a lot of pain points other will critique this game on are due to the engine's inherent limits. If you understand this and understand the basis of the genre, this is a fantastic little gem. My only personal critique is that the game felt way too easy after the first few hours. (FYI, it took me ~9 hours to 100% the game).

interesting little game. i was getting into it but having to spam the attack key 50x and uncertain if it's going to fire just didn't work for me. not sure what that's about, but got through the first dungeon and that was enough! wouldn't recommend.

Very glad this Sword of Moonlight game engine wasn't completely forgotten about. And glad this game received its fair share of post launch support because it was filled with (and still has) all sorts of weird bugs. Theres no real options menu (that should tell you the level of retro "authenticity" that Sword of Moonlight brings as a game engine) so you have to edit CONFIG.INI Its a free game so you literally lose nothing except time while playing it if you don't like it. Sword of Moonlight is a weird historical gaming artifact that is worth experiencing even if you end up hating it. Compared with other dungeon crawlers, the game is clunky and I don't really have the motivation to actually finish it because I've played this sort of game a thousand times before and know exactly how it ends. Its as generic dungeon crawler as generic dungeon crawler gets and its not really better than any other game in this exact same genre with this exact same premise. Also contains a real cooking recepie that might be worth unironically trying.

I enjoy it much more than the original Lunacid. This feels more like a game that takes itself serious. In the original I always thought that the NPCs acted weird and that was really immersion breaking for me.
