Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Vol. 1

Good classic fun. worth getting

This game is amazing, if you like the megaman battle network series then this is what you've been wanting for like a decade. It is somewhat basic in terms of the additional features, but as someone that just wanted an easy way to play these games I don't have many complaints.

battle network 1: a bit rough around the edges, but it's still Battle Network at the end of the day. the series has a combat system that was quite unique for the time and still holds up. If you vibe with this one, you'll probably vibe with the rest of the series. battle network 2: polishes a lot of the rough edges BN1 had. still not quite reaching the heights of later entries but still a fun game. battle network 3: has the best story in the series, delving into heavy topics and emotional peaks that Mega Man RPGs wouldn't reach again until Star Force. thanks to features like the Navi Customizer allowing more options than ever before. there are some issues with excessive backtracking and having to reorganize said navi customizer a lot can be annoying, but this is still the best game in Volume 1. If you only play one game from this volume, make it this one. Collection enhancements: Not nearly as in depth as the later released Star Force collection, meaning there's no way to increase how much money you get from battles, no way to locate V2/V3 bosses, no autosave, etc. There is Buster Max mode which multiplies the damage from your Mega Buster by 100, so if you wanna blaze thro…

Great way to play through the first half (roughly) of the series for that nostalgia kick! Some of the achievements are a bit of a grind, but it was a great way to expand on the post-game for me, particularly in MMBN3. Plays perfectly on Deck!

Still as addictive as when I first played those games 10+ years ago. BN1 is overall easy, its story is very simple (solving terrorist events caused by the WWW) and it lacks a post-game, but it is a good first entry that is later built on. BN2 introduces side-quests, travel to other countries, different forms, more challenging enemies, new panels and obstacles and a post-game areas introducing additional bosses. The story is still a bit light, focused this time on the Gospel group causing terrorist events, but it introduces Bass, a recurring secret Boss. The game is probably my favorite of the 1st part of the collection. BN3 follows on the plots of the first 2 games, introducing the NaviCust which replaces the previous PowerUps, Virus breeding, 3 new forms and a complex post-game. The story is considered the best in the series but it feels a bit too long for me due to the large amount of backtracking forced on you (having to roam all areas 2 times in a row in the late-game got very tiring). You'll most likely need a guide to complete that one.
