You play as Beck, the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by a mysterious computer virus that has caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk. Run, jump, blast, and transform your way through twelve stages using weapons and abilities stolen from your enemies to take down your fellow Mighty Number robots and confront the final evil that threatens the planet!
Every aspect of Mighty No. 9’s development—art, level design, music, programming, etc.—is being handled by veteran Japanese game creators with extensive experience in the genre, all the way up to and including the project’s leader, Keiji Inafune himself!

this game is straight cheeks lmao Inafune promised the world a game that would carry the spirit of classic Mega Man. This ain't it. The combo system is kinda fun but the level design is wack as hell and for as much as the game encourages speed and getting kills, it sure likes penalizing you for doing well, and there's some spots where you can pretty easily get juggled into an instant death, and also the score system is all kinds of wrong. You can get extra lives but if you die you lose probably close to over 90% of the score you accumulated. I think that could have very easily been circumvented by just having a flat 2 lives in each stage, and having a no-miss bonus at the end, but I guess they didn't think hard enough for the style they ended up going with. TL;DR if you want classic Mega Man, this ain't it, go play just about any of the Classic series Mega Man games, even at their worst they're a million times more fun and better designed than this mass of slop that scammed Mega Man fans out of millions on Kickstarter and Inafune broke all his promises lol. Never cook again.
ok, i really suck at this game but i have a really great time. i love the character designs, i feel like i never get mad because of the game, unlike other games. it goes on sale for really cheap super often. i got this game for like 1.50. i find the movement good. if you like mega man you might aswell get it dude.

[h1]Movement so good I cried like an anime fan on prom night[/h1] Mighty Number Nine. Ho boy. A classic internet punching bag. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely for good reason. Everyone I talk to treats it like garbage. How many of those people actually played it? Zero. So how does this game truly fare in 2026? I'm shocked to say it, I actually think it's fine. Disclaimer: This review is NOT factoring in anything related to the Kickstarter or Keiji Inafune's actions. I'm aware both resulted in significant losses of goodwill (which is justified!) But I review on the content of the game itself, not the outside. [h2]AcXelerating Through Stages[/h2] The movement is what I prefaced this review with, as it's something I was genuinely impressed by. The AcXelerate techniques (dash, crouch dash, quick fall) feel quick and snappy. Airdash spam in the air feels great. I was kind of shocked at how responsive in fluid the dashing in this game was. Best way I can describe it is when you get into a flow state, the movement feels good. Getting the Nice Play, Quick Clear, etc. bonuses is rewarding.
