About Not Tonight

✦ AI summary

Work as a bouncer in a dystopian post-Brexit Britain, checking IDs and managing rowdy crowds while navigating a gig economy under an oppressive far-right regime. Every decision you make determines whether you'll resist, survive, or escape this totalitarian nightmare.

Person of European Heritage #112: Welcome to Relocation Block B, your new home. Your designated role is 'Bouncer'. Work hard, stay out of trouble, and we might let you stay in the UK.

In an alternative Britain where Brexit talks have collapsed, an extreme far-right government has taken power. Citizens of European heritage have been rounded up and exiled. Forced out of your previous life, you find yourself in the midst of a booming gig economy, fighting to scrape by and return to the city you call home.

Not Tonight is a post-Brexit management game, fusing a time-pressure RPG with a politically charged story where every decision matters. Will you join the resistance and fight the regime -- or keep your head down and hope that one day this will all be a distant memory?
  • Man the doors of pubs, clubs, festivals and parties, finding work via the BouncR app
  • Check IDs, manage guestlists, and stop revellers from becoming unruly
  • Upgrade your apartment, bouncer and equipment to better prepare yourself for the future
  • Decide what lengths you'll go to in order to survive in a Britain on the verge of collapse

I think this game is decent but imo it is TOO LONG Also it is never explained that you can give an NPC a quest specific items during checking their ID, which is forces me to replay entire chapters. Also it is too hard to get different endings because you have to replay so much content. Fun first playthrough but has 0 replay value other than maybe getting the good ending, but that takes too long.

I absolutely loved this game. The fact that there are parallels to real life... well... theres that. Got the DLC and it is much more chill than the base game, but still the same mechanics. BUT with Dave!

This game had real potential. But since the little details are the entire core of the game, they have to be perfect or the game becomes a chore. In the beginning stages of the game, we are told to focus on dates and look for fake holograms and flags. Unfortunately, the game can't even stick to its own rule book. I'm in the second week and just got in trouble for an ID picture not matching the person. Nobody in the game ever mentioned that before. But even that might be OK if we could actually see what the people look like. Unlike Papers Please that lets you get close enough to actually see the people, the camera in this game is stuck on a permanent wide shot. Not only are the "customers" very far away, their faces and bodies are pixelated! And since the game is played outside at night, the lighting is often too dim to even tell what color they're supposed to be. It's ridiculous for the game to make appearance an issue and then make it nearly impossible to know whether it's the right person or not. For that reason alone, it's a total thumbs down.

Fun to revisit every once in a while, with catchy background music. Plus, "The King's Head" has the best soundtrack in the game.

8/10 there are some visual bugs in the last chapter, and then rng sometimes causes impossible S tier performance, but still a really good game.
