About Realms of Arkania: Star Trail

The united orc tribes attempted to invade the region of Thorwal, but a group of valiant adventurers thwarted their plans during their previous quest. Now the orcs have regrouped and attacked other, more vulnerable areas – Lowangen is occupied and half the Svellt Valley lies in ashes. An elf ambassador summons the party to the city of Kvirasim. To unite the races of the elves and the dwarves in the struggle against a common enemy, they must recover an artifact known as the Salamander Stone.

Yet not all is as simple as it seems: As the party approaches an abandoned dwarven mine that may hold the answers to their questions, someone else makes it clear that not everyone in the country favors a cooperation between the two races.

Star Trail is a faithful remake of Realms of Arkania’s classic sequel. This hardcore RPG features dozens of talents and spells, distinct races and character classes as well as a challenging isometric turn-based combat system. Obey your orders and succeed in your quest to retrieve the Salamander stone – the peace between elves and dwarves depends on it!

Realms of Arkania: Star Trail, developed by United Independent Entertainment GmbH and Crafty Studios and published by United Independent Entertainment, is a modern reimagining of a classic 1990s role-playing game rooted in the German tabletop system The Dark Eye. As the second chapter of the celebrated Nordland Trilogy, Star Trail carries forward the traditions of old-school computer RPG design: dense mechanics, deep character customization, deliberate pacing, and a strong emphasis on tactical combat and exploration. Rather than attempting to modernize the formula into a streamlined, cinematic experience, this remake largely preserves the complexity and structure of the original while presenting it with updated visuals and interface refinements. The story continues the events of Blade of Destiny, placing players once again in the turbulent lands threatened by orc invasions and political unrest. The central objective revolves around securing the legendary Salamander Stone, an artifact of immense importance that could unite fractured factions and turn the tide against encroaching forces. Along the journey, the narrative unfolds through dialogue, written descriptions, and environment…

Movement is terrible. Combat is clunky, I have a sword but it keeps wanting to do magic. Less than 5 dollars and still not worth it.

Again, Don't Have the Time to Take a Chance Objective Review 6 of 5 must play. 5 of 5 great story great game-play. 4 of 5 great story average game-play. 3 of 5 average story great game-play. 2 of 5 give it a go only if it's you're favourite genre. 1 of 5 play if you have nothing better to do, 0 of 5 play if you're a masochist. -1 of 5 avoid. Realms of Arcania: Star Trail score is 2 of 5. Subjective Review The Realms of Arcania series are some very difficult RPG's. That's not a problem for me, as I have completed some really hard RPG's (Eye of the Beholder series to name one). So I began this with gusto, then after my initial try, and my experience with the first game in this series, decided to read some reviews before I put a LOT of time into it. It is my experience, that anytime a review states you're going to need a clue book, or go online for help, STAY AWAY! I tried the original games of the series, but due to bugs, had to quit. This is a remake but I'm kind of tired of reading "the game keeps its original charm" when that has to do with the same old clunky mechanics and at times, same old bugs that cause the game to crash over and over as if that is "charming" in some wa…

Just found out there's an event early in the game that removes ALL your equipment and items. And you don't get them back. So folks, think about whether you enjoy CRPGs where that happens. I wish I didn't play so long already, I'd have refunded. Also, of course, hilariously enough, the 3d character models are EVEN MORE UGLY than the Blade of Destiny remake, which is amazing. And so is the appearance of all the areas you move through in the first person view now. It's like they turned off all lighting except flat lighting, it's that bad. I don't know how they released a sequel four years later and had everything become so much uglier than the originally already quite mediocre appearance. I'm disappointed to an absurd degree. I really enjoyed the Blade of Destiny remake, warts and all. Was not expecting this game to be such a big step down.
