There are over 100 mechanically unique blocks in Roody:2d with simple functions that compose into factories or vehicles or factory-vehicles!
The destroyer destroys any blocks in front of it. Towers made out of sand will crumble. Foam floats on water. The potentiometer can tune a wire charge to a specific value. Rubber can't be pulled by magnets.
After playing through the linear tutorial, start a sandbox world and navigate through the research tree.
Master and exploit the interactions between blocks to automate tree and flower farms, monster grinders, digging machines, building machines, or turn on cheats and toy around with everything.

Love this game. I've followed this game for years on itch. Not sure how I feel about the developer adding chests. It kind of takes away the fun of space management, and the unique challenge that created. Still, fantastic game. One of my favorite takes to the automation genre. I really want multiplayer because it would be so cool for a game like this. this game is super duper fun, also no joke i love how little it has mechanic wise, so every single time you see something even SLIGHTLY new its mind blowing. i played this game for at least 5 hours before figuring out there were even enemies so when they showed up i was extremely surprised there was more to this game. the only thing i don't like is the lack of explanation on how cheats work (i dont even know how to use them yet). very much would recommend you play this, its a very fun game, uhh... thanks for reading? It's fun using the individual parts to make bigger machines, and very satisfying watching a working machine after completing one
[NB. my playtime is ~20 hours on the pre-Steam version] This is one of the most interesting and unique games ever made. It's basically a 2D factory game where your resources are infinite, but it's up to you to automate their extraction, and production. You're encouraged to try and design complex contraptions with moving belts, pistons, light beams, magnets etc., to automate more and more difficult tasks. There's incredible depth here, but it comes with one frustration: it's really hard to guess in which order and direction the physics engine will apply forces, so intuition or a real understanding of physics is not enough to design many types of contraption - you need to rote learn *exactly* how the physics engine behaves.
Very new and innovative approach to automation games. fun i like
