Skygard Arena, developed by Gemelli Games and published by Gemelli Games alongside SpaceJazz, is a turn-based tactical strategy title that blends grid-based combat with modern team-building mechanics and competitive multiplayer elements. It positions itself as a thoughtful, ability-driven tactics game where positioning, synergy, and careful planning outweigh brute force. While it carries some structural influences from MOBAs and hero-based strategy games, its heart lies firmly in deliberate, methodical turn-based decision making. At its core, Skygard Arena revolves around assembling a squad of three Champions drawn from a diverse roster. Each Champion can equip different Personas, which fundamentally alter their available abilities and combat roles. This system encourages experimentation, as a single character can function as a frontline disruptor in one configuration and a ranged controller or support unit in another. Beyond Personas, Champions can also equip Relics that grant passive bonuses or modify combat interactions. The interplay between Personas and Relics creates a deep layer of customization, allowing players to craft highly specialized team compositions built around sy…

Really clever and addictive strategy game. Fun, varied campaign is good for about 8-10 hrs, with some good, challenging AI. The Arena mode is where the game really shines, but unfortunately the AI there is much weaker. I wish more people were playing!

A lot of bugs, but the most annoying one was in Mission 12. The goal is to defend through 10 waves — guess what? It turns into infinite waves. On top of that, I had to restart several times because of the side objectives like “get the pillars before round 6” and “don’t take any damage.” And if you realize your team setup isn’t right, good luck. You can’t just go back to change members — nope, you have to sit through all the dialogues again. Yes, you can skip the first one... but then you’re forced to read everything else before the fight. Great potential, but man, the frustration is real.

The game is good buuuuuuut... the PVP is empty sadly. There isn't many heroes to play with despite the different strategies and personas you can apply with. And finally the campaign solo mode feels really souless and empty also. The game could be reaaaaally good but... meh.

Fun little turn based tactics game with a nice art style for a reasonable price of £12. Shame it looks to have been abandoned. While the story is absolutely nothing to write home about in terms of the writing (and is full of grammatical errors), it does offer some fun asymmetrical battles which require some thought to overcome. Mission 12 is very tedious though and I have no interest in sweating it out. The different characters are fun and have different kits and playstyles. The relics offer more build opportunities on top of that, not to mention the fact that each of the ten characters has two different classes which play completely differently to each other. Most of these characters you can play in the campaign. Beyond that you have PvP which is dead because no one plays this game and PvE vs a surprisingly ok ai. Overall, I feel satisfied for the price I paid.
