Enjoyable game. Only 4 areas to explore but they felt full of things to do. Combat, dialogue and skill progression were fun. Biggest critique is that you are able to play as any character but sometimes you are forced to play as a particular character. (Especially Kirito.) And that made things extremely difficult when you havent been leveling them up.

Here are reasons you might buy this game: 1. Fan service. All the girls have bikini, school, and towel outfits. 2. Flight. You can fly in “ALO”. 3. Fan service. Breasts jiggle. I was genuinely surprised by how much those things get around. 4. Swords. It’s an SAO game with swords. 5. Fan service. Body types range from Silica to Sakuya. Flying around in ALO sounded nice, and the game was on sale for about $3, so I got it. If the things I listed above are all you ever wanted in an SAO game, then I suppose picking this up for 85% off will be great for you. Last I checked, the game is often on sale for that much. The gameplay is mindless hack-and-slash against hordes of damage sponges that respawn faster than you can kill them. It will often feel too grindy, even if it’s not very difficult. Anyway, the rest of this review is me complaining that the story and characters suck. ALO is frankly a great setting. You might be looking forward to engaging in the fairy wars that are supposed to take place in ALO. Let me tell you what actually happens: A girl called Dr. Rainbow preaches to the world that PvP in video games is real violence. In response to this, Kirito, who loves PvP, say…

There are better SAO games out there, but at least this one works unlike Hollow Realization. Its a lot of copy and paste slop as you can expect, with a lot of the things that actually make SAO games passable missing. Its just combat here, no social aspects, Its like going from Persona to Metaphor.
