UNCOVER THE SECRETS OF THE UNITED JUPITER COMPANY
Set on Jupiter’s dead moon Callisto in the year 2320, The Callisto Protocol casts players as Jacob Lee, an inmate in Black Iron Prison. One of the most hostile, isolated environments in the universe, Callisto looms large over Jacob’s desperate struggle to survive. Players must not only contend with the horrors of Black Iron Prison, but also the centuries-old secrets that plague Jupiter’s long-dead moon, both above and below the surface.

What Steam players say

I originally played this on my Xbox Series X when it first released. I got this on sale with the DLC on Steam and really enjoy this game. If you like games where you play in a haunting planet and spaceship you will enjoy this game. This game is very similar to the Dead Space games, System Shock and other space games. I would highly recommend and ignore the negative reviews. I would also recommend the Final Transmission DLC as it adds to the main story-line.
The graphics are nice, some of the mocap expressions are a little weird. The combat is okay but it does get a little repetitive after awhile. The story so far is serviceable but I don't think I'll finish it. What really turned me off is I'm just tired of crawling through vents and squeezing through sections of pipe. Here and there is one thing but I feel like 80% of the last hour I played was crawling through damn vents. It's like having to slog through a filler episode of a TV show, just to drag out the story.
Callisto Protocol is not a bad game, but it's not a hit either. After a while, it becomes predictable and repetitive if you've played the Dead Space trilogy. It borrows heavily from the latter; in fact, the story is almost identical. On the other hand, it abuses the jump scare factor excessively, making it more a game of suspense than genuine horror. The atmosphere is good and the graphics do their job, but it fails to maintain immersion due to how predictable it becomes.
A solid sci-fi horror, especially if you love Dead Space. If you are a fan of Dead Space, you will feel right at home with The Callisto Protocol. It heavily resembles it in almost every way—from the claustrophobic atmosphere and camera angles to the UI on the back of the character's neck. Because of this resemblance, the game is actually really good. The graphics are absolutely stunning, the sound design is incredibly creepy, and the gore is top-tier. However, it's not perfect. It doesn't quite reach the masterpiece status of the original Dead Space trilogy, and the combat can feel a bit repetitive at times. It’s not the absolute best horror game out there, but it is still a very solid and enjoyable ride. Pros: Jaw-dropping visuals, great atmospheric tension, classic sci-fi survival horror vibes. Cons: Combat can feel clunky, lacks original ideas to completely stand out. 8/10 — Definitely worth playing, especially on a good sale!
The Callisto Protocol deserves far more appreciation. It gave me the same unforgettable feeling I had when playing Dead Space for the first time. Dark, brutal, immersive, and atmospheric it's a modern horror experience I'll never forget.
