The Dream of Shadowlands Episode 1: Into the Darkness
When someone is truly hated, they may find themselves forced out of the safety of the light and into the unforgiving dark. Rina wakes up lost and confused in a mysterious new world, learning she has been cursed. Reluctantly teaming up with a plain-spoken demon named Jyl, they find themselves in an underwater dreamscape that appears anything but ordinary. Stumbling upon a cult's plot and facing off with fearsome monsters, the Shadowlands prove to be a treacherous place. Rina must face her first challenges in order to survive the long journey ahead of her.
"The Dream of Shadowlands" is a top-down RPG series inspired by the RPGMaker horror niche. It features art assets that were drawn traditionally with ink and paper, and a retro style based on 90's anime.
Note that this game is fully voice-acted, with most of us in the cast being amateurs. If this is something that puts you off, voice acting can be turned off in the game's settings!

"The Dream of Shadowlands Episode 1" is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "The Dream of Shadowlands Episode 2". The Dream of Shadowlands Episode 2 is an incomplete series of "games" assembled rather poorly and with very weak gameplay and almost tolerable "anime" themed illustrations and animations, deadpan voice acting and very little interest from the general gaming public. The gameplay really is indistinguishable from something you might get out of Adobe Flash. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not The Dream of Shadowlands Episode 2, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "The Dream of Shadowlands Episode 1" too. I think this game was quite interesting and it was a huge breath of fresh air especially with a game that last only 2 hours sadly the ending of the episode was really disappointing but other then that this game is alright in my book.
Lovable characters, unique world, nice art style, an intense chase, a fun final boss. This is one game I'd highly recommend (especially since it's free), and I will definitely be playing the sequel
