Welcome to Everdell takes place over four rounds. We'll take turns sending our Friends around the forest to gather resources like berries, twigs, and resin that we'll use to play cards from our hand.
There are two types of cards – critters and places. In addition to scoring points, each card provides other rewards:
Parades are special point bonuses that you can earn by collecting different sets of cards. Each player can earn each parade once, and they're worth more points the sooner you get them, so go quick! There are four different types of parades:
After four rounds, the game is over and we add up our points – whoever has built the best make-believe city wins!

How to Play
Welcome to Everdell takes place over four rounds. We'll take turns sending our Friends around the forest to gather resources like berries, twigs, and resin that we'll use to play cards from our hand.
There are two types of cards – critters and places. In addition to scoring points, each card provides other rewards:
- Green cards activate once as soon as you play them, and they activate again at the beginning of each new round.
- Blue cards activate after playing a certain card type or earning a Parade, or let you play a certain card for cheaper.
- Tan cards activate only one time as soon as you play them. They do not activate again.
- Red cards activate when you place a Friend on them. Each player may only use their own Red cards that they have played.
- Purple cards only activate after the game has ended. They give you point tokens for other cards or Parades you may have at the end of the game.

Welcome To Everdell from Dire Wolf Digital is a gentle, approachable digital board game that distills the broader Everdell universe into a more streamlined and beginner-friendly experience. Rather than trying to replicate the full complexity of its tabletop counterpart, it focuses on clarity, accessibility, and a relaxed pace, making it an inviting entry point for players who may be new to strategy or worker-placement games. The design is intentionally simplified, but it still retains enough structure to feel purposeful and engaging. At its core, the game revolves around building a small woodland city over the course of several rounds. Players place workers to gather resources and use those materials to play cards representing buildings and critters, gradually constructing a tableau that generates points and abilities. The turn-based structure is easy to follow, with each round offering new opportunities to expand and refine your strategy. The mechanics are introduced clearly, allowing players to understand the flow of the game without feeling overwhelmed by complicated systems. What a great gateway to the Everdell franchise! It also has a sister app titled “Welcome to Everdell” (costs $3.99 in the Apple app store). So I can play it digitally both on my PC and mobile on my iPad. It has a replayable tutorial “campaign” that does a fabulous job of teaching the core rules of Everdell. After playing this and it's big brother Everdell on Steam, I bought the full TTBG versions of both “Lil Everdell” and The Everdell Complete Collection.
An absolutely stellar digital translation of the board game! Everdell can be challenging to learn for people who don't play a lot of board games, and this version is a great primer to understanding the more complex mechanics of the standard game. Even a kid can learn to play through the several campaign missions (complete with adorably cute dialog), and then be introduced to the harder version in a short matter of time. All that said, I LOVE the breezy play of this title. Lots of different modes that includes single player story, single player against AI, online and hotseat multiplayer. Even knowing what I'm doing on the standard game I find myself drawn back to the quick and simple play of this title. Definitely an easy recommendation, especially when on the deep discount that they offer on occasion.
