About White Shadows

White Shadows is a cinematic puzzle-platformer where you play as a little Ravengirl trying to escape a brutal dystopia founded on oppression and violence that puts her at the bottom of its hierarchical social ladder.

Composed of a vast network of towers rising from the void of post-catastrophe darkness into the sky above, the city our young adventurer seeks to escape is a dangerous place to be. She will have to find ways to avoid the teeth of machinery primed to grind her into dust, leap across rickety infrastructure that bridges the cavernous darkness all around and avoid the watchful eyes of guards ready to gun her down. She will travel to the city’s brightest highs and delve to its darkest depths on her journey, discovering her destiny among the last free people alive.

White Shadows’ striking architectural forms and stunning monochrome art style combine to create a place steeped in atmosphere. It’s a world where the lies of the elite are plastered across its walls, where twisted forms of entertainment are used to keep everyone in their place, and where hope seems in short supply.
 • A visually stunning and narratively rich dystopian setting with a distinctive art style
 • Varied puzzle platforming with unique scenarios that keep things fresh
 • An exciting personal story combined with social critique
 • A simple and intuitive control scheme

Very grim and atmospheric, if you don't mind being confronted with heavy topics like xenophobia and a class system. I'd recommend it. Gameplay wise it has some mild platforming puzzles and obstacle courses. Nothing crazy difficult that would gatekeep casual players

If you have €20 to spend it is a beautiful game with some nice puzzels. But it is not much more than two hours plus hours of fun.

I definitely recommend this game on sale. It's really interesting and fun. Great production values. It's only about 3 hours long. So if you're like me, and other games like this drag on for too long, this is a great option if you can get it for $5-$10.

Very cool.. A short n sweet dystopian tale, a mix of animal farm and 1984

Dystopian tech-noir steampunk-y version of animal farm with a slice of solyent green in it... in black and white. or rather black and light, cuz there isnt really that much white in this world to be found. I think if every light was to be turned off, the whole thing would just be pitch black. idk what this huge installation is supposed to be but it sure as hell tickles the imagination. Soundtrack is great (can get a bit annoying when you idle in the menu or try to go for certain achievements). controlls are at the verge of being kinda ♥♥♥♥♥, but the level design is so incredibly 2d that it doesnt really matter much. u literally CANNOT fall off of anything, except you fail a jump. if you would have to manouver much more and more precisely, the controlls would be way too unresponsive. obv there is no dialogue and no notes or anything to read, everything gets told the old fashioned way "show, dont tell", and it works phenomenally well. the world created is a world remembered, for sure. WELL Up until the last chapter, cuz there (ofcourse) is a pretty big exposition dump happening... granted, its kinda cute and fits the overall "narrative" and style of the game, sure. but it stil…

I've enjoyed this game. It has a unique black-and-white art style, and I really loved the soundtrack, especially during the train sequence. The world feels dark and atmospheric. It gave me strong Animal Farm vibes, especially with the “all animals are equal” law. The gameplay itself isn't difficult, and the achievements are easy to get. A big plus is that you can load checkpoints to complete any missed achievements without replaying the whole game. I can agree that it might not be worth the full price, but on sale? Definitely grab it.
