Of course the game had to end with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ big monstrosity final boss after a goodshit humanoid semi-final boss. Really keeps the souls-like tradition alive

Awesome game. Very difficult at first but the progression is very satisfying. One thing I didn't like are the tower climbing bits after each boss, that mechanic felt very off and was honestly more frustrating than rewarding, the rest of the games was flawless.

This game is made to be as obtuse and annoying as possible. Really a shame because the art and music are great. It's not particularly hard either it's just unfun to play...

Ultimately it's a remarkable achievement - from the toolkit to the art and world building. But those first few hours can be pretty brutal! I think this thing is overtuned in a lot of the same ways that Silksong is. If you can press through - there's a lot to love. But if you're not prepared to buckle up, you're wont to bounce off halfway through the first level.

I would love to write a longer review, but in the meantime it felt wrong to leave nothing. Quickly became one of my favorites of all time and is a genuine 9/10 only held back by a few flaws the other reviews have already explained, but still one of the most fun gaming experiences I've had in a long time. Absolutely recommend if you're a fan of high-difficulty games with extremely strong design.
