What Steam players say

Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.

✦ AI summary

Players praise Crysis 2 as a classic experience with an engaging nanosuit system and memorable campaign set in NYC, but criticize the core shooting mechanics as unsatisfying, with weapons feeling underpowered and hip-fire being nearly useless. Common complaints also include technical issues like alt-tab crashes and frustration over multiplayer being permanently disabled without compensation, leaving the game feeling incomplete despite its ambitious scope.

Of all the 3 Crysis games + Warhead this is the best of the lot, as it has the best story and excellent gameplay which allows you to fight however you want to. For you can skip the vast majority of fights or muderise everything in sight if that's want you want. Though of course, hit and run works the best :P Anyhow, main flaws with it are the rare weapons like L-Tags are lacklustre or the fact placing C4 drains your power massively in stealth which really shouldn't have happened. Because C4 is your main way of killing off Pingers and Brutes. But fortunately you can fight these well. The other issue is the checkpoint places, which of course back in the early 2010's was always an issue :P Though given they're otherwise frequent, getting your rear handed to you is not the set back it is in games of similar vintage. Otherwise you get one of the best "linear" shooters of that time with graphics that still hold up, because unlike it's peers, it's not varying shades of grey and brown. With solid gunplay, most fair enemy health pools (except on high difficulties...) and excellent flow between fights. And frankly the best sound track an fps has ever had. It's so good in fact I r…

Crysis 2 is exemplary, one of the best sequels to an FPS shooter ever made in my opinion, and is not talked about nearly enough when discussing AAA games and their legacies on the industry as a whole. It came out in 2011, the same year as Batman: Arkham City, Dark Souls, Portal 2, Skyrim, and Minecraft, so the fact it didn't get listed as one of the best games ever made that year is somewhat understandable, but still unfortunate, because this game is absolutely amazing. As I did with my review for Crysis 1 and its remaster, I will be making two reviews for this game and its remaster, and largely they're the exact same review, save for the performance stuff at the bottom. The Positives: This game is sleeker and more tightly focused experience than the original Crysis, swapping out a more open ended, open world game, where you could approach your objectives at any angle at whatever time you choose, for one that is, for better or worse, trimmed of the fat; the game is linear, more of a series of action setpieces that you approach largely the same every time, except for special levels that involve vehicles. It is quite a different game from its predecessor, but on the balance I'd arg…
