Them and Us

The game is fun, and if you like the classic Resident Evil formula of finding keys, notes, and other doodads all over the place to slowly explore a mansion then you'll likely enjoy this game. There is one HUGE caveat to that however. If you DO NOT like Resident Evil 0's inventory system, then be warned that this game copies it, except instead of two characters, you only have one character with a miniscule inventory. Dropping items on the floor is not only allowed, but expected. At around the 90 minute mark, I had a full inventory and several key items scattered across the floor of the great hall (which is what I used as my "item box" so the speak), and I realized that I was NOT up for the tedium of this system. There had already been one instance where I didn't have a key item I needed to progress, so I had to run all the way back to where I had dropped it, drop off something else from my inventory, and then haul my butt all the way back to where I was to proceed. You only start with four slots, but the game mercifully gives you a backpack early on that upgrades your inventory to a whopping six slots, but considering the gun, ammo, and knife all take up an inventory slot, at all…

Hmm...although this came out 5 years, I give it a 1/5, even for an indie. The plot is thin as paper - I'm 9 hours into the playthrough and have not interacted w/ any other characters. Absurd. Its evolving into a slog, I won't be finishing this. I understand the why its been received well (mostly), but I don't recommend it, even on sale. There's just better, more polilshed options out there. Just watch a playthrough on youtube and save your $$$ for w/e else your're something. Not recommended.

The pyramid puzzle is complete garbage. So many people complained, and it is still this bad. I also had a bug where the right solution didn't get registered. After a few puzzle resets, it finally worked, but at this point, I was beyond frustrated. The flashback sequence shortly after did the game no favors either. Why the hell do you have to put clues on the chalkboard one by one? The shift to dimensional monsters is also a letdown...

really fun survival horror game, if you love that genre then this is defo worth a playthrough i thoroughly enjoyed it :)

This is the closest experience to Resident Evil 1 in modern day, heavily inspired with 4 and 5 elements as well, so if youʾre looking for something that emulates that retro feel perfectly, I would definitely recommend Them and Us ♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎ Itʾs one of those clones highest in quality, and, Iʾll admit, more challenging than expected at times, which makes it even better, at least if thatʾs what youʾre looking for. I personally didnʾt run into any gamebreakers with my playthrough and am gonna be starting a second. The combat is fun, and thereʾs both an over the shoulder and fixed camera option to better suit preferences :)
