ELEX II

Games like this should be illegal. I just spend 20+ hours on a character only to learn that my stat allocations have soft-locked me out of the rest of the game. My only choice is to spend hours grinding against the lowest level creatures in the game to try and salvage it. The leap from early to mid-game is insane and nearly impossible to get right. You will fail at it the first time unless you have played this developer's games before. Throw in the confusing dialog, awful graphics, and utterly terrible combat system and you are forced into only 1 conclusion: the game is a scam. Piranha Bytes is stealing your money and making sure you don't realize it until it's too late to return the game.

good game, not woke

2 steps forward, 3 steps back. The combat and movement are an improvement over Elex 1, but the rest of the game is just awful. The story is terrible, factions suck and serve no real purpose, missions are repetitive and only have 1 solution. It's the same map as Elex 1 with a new coat of paint. Skills and abilities have been gutted and are just extra damage, health etc. - you can't use them to complete missions in different ways like you can in Risen or Elex 1. There are no speech skills, and the dialogue choices are just different ways of saying the same thing (like Fallout 4). It doesn't take your Elex 1 choice into account, characters which died in the first game are somehow still alive. If you romanced Nasty you're still locked in with Caja in this one for story reasons. There's a lame Billy Idol concert in the game for some reason? Why blow the budget on this instead of polishing the game? £40 is just way too much for this and your money is best spent elsewhere.

A lot of regression from the 1st one. The skill trees, the factions, the souless and cringe characters. And the most annoying thing, the romance system, i was trying so hard to romance Nasty, i even joined morkons and Outlows, but those thing has no inpact on her opinion on you. u just have to go full evil so she can like u. Wtf? Also Nyra, couldnt romance her neither, every dialogue "Nyra aknoledge that" and nothing. I ended up with Caja withoud doing any effort and in the cutscene you call her idiot and u kiss her, wtf?. I'm pretty disapointed with this game, I cannot belive the the ppl who made Gothis series made this one too :(

This game broke me. There were parts where I was really invested and had fun exploring, especially with the new aerial mobility, which was easily the best part of the game. And then came the factions and their companions, foremost Caja and Nasty. Both are super annoying in this game and behave like 16 year old teens. Most companion Quest are forgettable teleporting somewhere and killing some enemies Quests. Most factions are just dumbed-down versions of what they used to be, and some, like the Clerics, are basically nonexistent. Invading aliens are running around everywhere, and no one gives a ♥♥♥♥ about it. The combat is the same as in the last one, with shotguns reigning supreme. The ending kinda made me want to know more about what's gonna happen, which was super sad because the way to get there was such a slog. I got mad at myself and the game for wanting to know just a bit more and hoping for Elex 3. If you played Elex 1, leave it at that. Keep the memory of Piranha Bytes in good standing. You will get mad at this one because it is fun but frustrating at the same time. Put your hope into Alkimia Interactive, they laid the groundwork with Gothic 1 Remake.

Elex was an interesting game that opened up a new path for Piranha Bytes. It's a shame that the second game was a mediocre copy of the first, instead of building on its potential.
