About Ampu-Tea

✦ AI summary

You play as a recovering amputee learning to master a high-tech robotic arm through increasingly tricky tasks, starting with the deceptively simple challenge of making tea for your demanding father. It's a hilariously tense puzzle game where precision, timing, and patience are everything—one wrong move and you've spilled hot water everywhere.

The surgeon-simulator inspired Tea-making game is now available on Steam! Using the latest KS-001 Robo-Arm, you must practise making various types of tea.

✦ AI summary

Ampu-Tea is a deliberately difficult physics-based tea-making simulator with clunky robotic arm controls that aims for humorous frustration but often veers into genuinely annoying territory due to poor object handling, unresponsive grabbing mechanics, and physics that feel more janky than polished. While some players appreciate the masocore difficulty and can laugh at the absurdity, most find the broken controls and object deformation issues make the experience more tedious than fun, and recommend avoiding it unless you catch it at a steep discount and have patience for wonky gameplay.

I didn't expect it was possible to create a game worse than Surgeon Simulator, but they managed it

Good old-fashioned masocore. Ampu-Tea is quite possibly the most realistic tea-making simulator ever created. It accurately demonstrates that making a proper cup of tea is not merely a household chore, but an advanced exercise in robotics, spatial reasoning, patience, and the gradual abandonment of one's sanity. So next time you order tea somewhere and find yourself outraged that it has taken an entire hour to arrive, play Ampu-Tea. You may discover that, actually, the poor bastard making it is doing remarkably well.

The controls are wonky (as it's meant to be) and I thought I'd be okay with but it was a bit hard for me. I didn't quite enjoy myself but I can definitely see someone else might if they enjoy games with wonky gameplay.

I mean it would be fine if it was as polished as Surgeon Simulator. However rather than from complexity, this game gets its difficulty from jankiness. I cannot recommend this.

NOT RECOMMENDED - the grabbing does not work and the needed ability to bend the palm downward does not exist. You can try to grab things all day and as perfectly as possible, only to realize that there is no object snapping or coupling and that the objects can only be carried with gravity. The carried objects can fall off THROUGH YOUR HAND. It is an object deforming galore. Your hand moves at the speed of light and punches everything around or breaks them with a slight touch, making delicate movements impossible and the game effectively not fun because you would have to play it in a grandma mode as in slowly af. I tried the Lazy Mode that is supposed to be the easy one and it has all of the issues intact. Grabbing a teabag is borderline impossible. Even if you clench it with every single finger, it will fall off 90 % of the time. Also grabbing a thin long object with the awful controls is already torture tier stuff.

Picked this up in a bundle and got exactly what I expected: a glorified Surgeon Simulator knockoff where making a cup of tea somehow feels harder than performing open-heart surgery. The physics-based robotic arm controls are deliberately clunky, and while that's kind of the point, it crosses the line from 'hilariously frustrating' into just plain frustrating pretty quickly — I spent way too long trying to grab a teabag only to watch it fly across the room the moment I let go. The highlight of my playthrough was honestly just sweeping everything off the table in a fit of rage, which the game actually rewards you for. Most achievements are easy to knock out in an hour or two, but that '500 launches' achievement is an absurd joke that no sane person should pursue. If you snag it for under a dollar in a bundle, it's worth a laugh or two, but don't pay full price for something that outstays its welcome in about fifteen minutes.
