About Auridia

Auridia is a metroidvania about platforming, secrets, and lore. You’ll like Auridia if…
  • You love fluid movement, like swinging from a grappling hook or bouncing off of spikes
  • You like platforming where you need to chain together moves
  • You look for secrets in every corner
  • You're intrigued by what's out-of-reach, and look forward to revisiting areas
  • You like reading about ancient societies, strange gods, and the pursuit of the unknown
You might not like Auridia if…
  • You’re looking for combat — there is almost none
  • You want a longer game — Auridia can be completed in 3-6 hours
  • You like cutscenes and exposition — Auridia's story is told through artifacts, and you will need to piece together their meaning
  • You prefer a clear objective at all times. You may get lost in Auridia, and you will need to explore, read through your journal, and look at your map to find the way forward.

Explore a branching world

In the ruins of Auridia, you will find obstacles you are not prepared for. Mark them on your map, and return when you've learned more. And there's often another way around...

String together abilities

Some challenges make you combine every move you have learned. Think carefully about when you use which ones, because your stamina is limited.

Discover secrets

Hidden passages exist throughout Auridia, and there's always a clue for the observant player. Use maps, environmental details, and other abilities to collect every artifact the Auridians left behind.

Write a history of Auridia

The Auridians are long gone, but a historian has found his way into the ruins just like you have. Show him artifacts that answer his questions, learn what happened here, and use it to decide the fate of this once-great city.

Features

  • Six unlockable movement abilities
  • Platforming challenges that test your mastery of those abilities
  • Nine interconnected regions
  • A map showing exactly what your character has seen
  • A research system to learn Auridian history based on collected artifacts
  • Over thirty artifacts, each with a piece of Auridian lore
  • Over fifty shrines that let you upgrade your stamina
  • Several endings, based on how much you've learned and what you decided to do with that knowledge

Quintessential platformer! I've enjoyed traversal mechanics and methodical, rewarding exploration a lot. Only problem I've encountered - one can't rebind keyboard keys. Or I haven't found an easy way. I play with my left hand on a laptop, so that is a big minus, but even with that problem, warm positive recommendation for Auridia.

Auridia is a great traversal based metroidvania that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the exploration aspect of these games. There is barely any combat in this game beyond swinging your torch (which does nothing) and redirecting ranged attacks. Instead the challenge is in figuring out how to get through an area with the movement options you have available - while also finding hidden secrets on the way. Progression through the game unlocks further traversal options for you, which like all good metroidvanias let you go back to earlier areas for secrets you couldn't reach before. It's a relatively short game, coming in at ~6-8 hours depending on how much you explore, but none of it feels rushed or incomplete. I picked this up at 50% off for AUD $7.25 but I think even at its full $14.50 price point I would have considered it worthwhile.

Great explorvania :-) Not much combat, but very fun exploration.

This is a neat little Metroidvania. It kinda of sells it self as a "no combat" metroidvania but this is not really true. There are ways to deal with enemies and in some situations you have to kill enemies to proceed with the game. The combat is just very light - its not the main focus. The platforming and controls overall are pretty good; most of the time they feel responsive. The main abilites that are kind of janky are flight and teleball. There are some weird delays for both of these actions which causes them to feel unresponsive and kinda of janky. Same goes for the "fling" mechanic that does not clearly show in which direction you are being sent and it could from time to time be extremely frustrating. Its not that hard - instead of having a green and a blue arrow JUST show the direction you will go. Common Dev! Such dumb mistake from a UX/UI perspective. There is one semi-tricky section for the 4th gnosis upgrade at the very end of the game where this becomes very obvious. The section is not super difficult but the controls make it harder and more frustrating than it should be. Overall the game is quite forgiving though - there are no game over screens or restart. C…

Holy crap what a great game. I'm so glad someone on r/metroidvania pointed me in this direction. This game is basically everything I could ask for: pure exploration, Lovecraftian themes (without just namedropping every known baddie), great ability powerups, and great challenge without feeling like I need to ram my head into something for hours. Perfect score: A++

An excellent puzzle platformer! Level design is superb, and so is the exploration. All movement skills feel useful and fun, controls are responsive and feel right. There's one or two challenging sections, but mostly, it's quite easy. The story is pretty neat, and told in a very low key fashion. If you're not interested, you won't really feel hampered by it. Graphics are simplistic, but serve the purpose. It's easy to read the level and figure out what you need to do. There's no real combat here, so this is more of a puzzle platformer than full-fledged metroidvania. Highly recommended to anyone who like Ori or Haak!
