The first loading screen tip you see says "This game should not be played to win. Immerse yourself in the world and the story." It doesn't say to have fun either which isn't what I was having.

A good edition to the Amnesia series but not without its faults. I enjoyed the story a lot here. Tasi and her struggle throughout this game is intense and horrifying but very captivating, you root for her the whole time that everything ends okay. It's got your classic physics engine gameplay that you would expect from Amnesia and lots of puzzle solving to do. Almost too much of it I have to admit. Sections of this game feel drawn out just from the sheer amount of problems/puzzles you need to complete that it makes it feel more cumbersome than engaging, and makes me think how much better the experience would have been without a good majority of this filler. The enemy encounters range from downright horrifying to being eh. I personally believe the 1st half of the game was for SURE having me on the edge of my seat then the 2nd but all in all they did what they needed too. I gotta say again though, the story was excellent and the voice acting was amazing. I enjoyed how things ended up in the ending I got (3 in total). I would for sure recommend if you are a horror fan or if you are a fan of the Amnesia series and want to continue with said series!

It's a Frictional game at its heart, and that's both a good and bad thing. It's Amnesia, and that's both a good and bad thing. It plays like The Dark Descent and it feels like The Dark Descent, and again, both a good and bad thing. As dated at this game can feel at times, it's still very fun and tense in places, and Tasi is an interesting enough protagonist. The parts in the other world are definitely the most compelling sequences, and the art direction is incredible. Overall, I had a good time... though I won't lie, it did overstay its welcome. 7.5/10 (Pretty good)

[i]Amnesia: Rebirth[/i] is the successor to [i]Amnesia: The Dark Descent[/i] (TDD). You play as Tasi Trianon, a woman stranded in the Algerian desert who must retrace her lost memories and find out what happened to her, her husband and the crew. Like TDD, the game focuses heavily on the loss of memory and fear of the dark. You traverse dark buildings, caverns and caves. After only a few seconds in the dark, Tasi starts to see disturbing hallucinations. Finding matches and other light sources isn't hard, but man, they do run out quickly. Instead of encouraging slow exploration, this mechanic made me want to rush in, light as many candles as I could find, and then start exploring. And I think it was even intended this way. There's a decent amount of lore, detailed scenery, some very good scares, and I really liked the stealth and chase scenes. The constant (spoiler) [spoiler]baby nurturing[/spoiler] (thing that stops you many, many times) got really distracting at times, though. Then again, this mechanic was used pretty well near the end of the game. Not the same impact that TDD had on me, but still a very good game.

I thought it was fine. Nothing really stood out too much to me and I thought there was some good things and some mediocre things. For the good, I really liked the other world, the monster designs, and the voice acting. I think that they did a great job designing them and they were both super interesting to see, despite their being relatively few in terms of monster design. I also did think that for the most part, the voice actors did a really great job. For the mediocre, for me it was the story and how few monsters really appeared. While the story did have some good moments that did build suspense at times, it was just really hard for me to get interested in it. It really wasn't until I sat down with the intention to solely make myself finish it that I actually beat the game. I wanted to enjoy the story a little more because I love horror and the Amnesia series is so iconic, but it just never really took and it left me wanting more. It all felt somewhat forgettable.
