8Doors: Arum's Afterlife Adventure

I've been playing this game on and off since 2022 when I got it, and honestly I just beat it this year (2026). I could've given up but there was always something that pulled me back in. I think story mode is plenty hard enough so I can't speak to the hard mode, but the game's difficulty scales in a really nice way where you never feel totally unequipped for an area. There are tons of secrets to collect and bonus bosses to fight. The art style is really unique and is used well. The story, however leaves a bit to be desired. It might just be because there are some translation (at least I'm assuming it's a translation) errors, but I felt like there was a lot of detail I was missing. Overall, you get the gist though. I would highly recommend at least giving this game a shot, as it's been one of the most enjoyable metroidvanias I've played.

A tremendous fun and thoughtful game, with really nice play mechanics that are fun and intuitive without being exhausting. I had a good time playing this, final boss is a mother but after grinding away for awhile i finally conquered and felt accomplished in my mission to complete the game. I definitely recommend this to any one that is a fan of dark metroidvanians and adventure games. Hopefully these creators do more, looks like i have some exploring to do. Thanks for making this game

[b] A solid Metroidvania. [/b] An interesting world set in the afterlife, inspired by Korean folktales, with a story that's also quite good and a unique aesthetic that enhances both. The design of some areas can be a little frustrating at times.

Great playing, good storytelling, nice achievement hunting and visually lovely. Recommended Metroidvania game. Medium-ish difficulty.

a short, wholesome metroidvania! surprisingly various weapons and upgrades for a little game. decent music and actually a not bad story. bosses were fine. overall it was a standard experience. i loved the game and replayed it to get 100% achievement. its not as smooth as those popular metroidvania games but its definitely worth the try.

I thought this was an enjoyable metroidvania with a really cool art style. It's not the most polished, but it is definitely worth a play.
