✦ AI summary

Starcom: Nexus is a space exploration game with an old-school vibe that appeals to players who enjoy atmospheric, hands-off exploration and ship customization, though it suffers from significant bugs—particularly in the final third where progression locks can require manual workarounds—and some find its lack of guidance frustrating when searching for mission objectives across empty space.

whole final third of the game didn't work... i had to literally code my way through the game to play it. I spent more time trying to fix bugs than I spent playing it. Lets say i have to find 3 things around the map to unlock something... I would find all 3 things but then nothing would happen. Then i have to manually override the code to tell the game that "hey i did all these things".

Phenomenal. Can't believe it took me this long to play it.

Get this game when it's $5 or less This is the type of game that a certain crowd of people likes. This game "doesn't hold your hand." After playing a few hours, I've collected and completed several missions. Several remain to be completed. The game encourages exploration by having most star systems linked by warp lanes. Some are off the beaten path, not connected by warp lanes. Now, I've explored every system I've come across and I have like 8 uncompleted missions with next to useless flavor text to guide me. I absolutely will not just aimlessly wander through empty space, hoping I come across something. The sequel is better in this regard, but that one bugged out (after early access, mind you) and I couldn't complete the main quest.

Really enjoyed it. Chill exploration game with a nice old-school vibe and some Star Trek inspiration. There’s quite a bit of reading, but I liked the atmosphere and exploring the galaxy. The fights aren’t complicated, but they’re good enough. Building your starship is a bit simple, but it does the job and you can make any shape you want. Took me around 15 hours to finish. Had 4 or 5 crashes, but the autosave is there so I never lost much progress.
