✦ AI summary

Excive A-1000 is an old-school FPS with fast-paced arcade gameplay that some players appreciate for its mechanical enemy patterns and straightforward gunplay, but many find it frustratingly difficult due to poor level design, punishing mine placement, lack of mid-level saves, and confusing visual design where mines blend in with pickups. Players consistently struggle with the game's steep difficulty curve and unforgiving mechanics, with complaints about insufficient ammo, scarce health drops, and fast player death requiring full level restarts.

Sadly this old school fps lacks any sort of balance and is a very rare case where I gave up on it. I just went till the second level and so far the levels are filled with mines, especially level 2. They are everywhere, behind every corner and every bush. The only way to destroy them is with your rockets but you only start with 20 of them and it seems you don't get more of them. The mines deals insane damage and in level 2 it seems there are no health drops whatsoever. And because, for some reason, this game does not have quick saves or any other saves except at the start of a level, you have to start over the entire level if you die. I first started the game on normal and died near the end of the first level, you simly die way too fast. So I switched to easy and tried again, then died multiple times in level 2. Also great, that if you die you only start with the pistol and you just get destroyed in level 2 if you only have the pistol. Great game design guys.

Excive A-1000 is a deliberately old-fashioned first-person shooter that puts fast movement, straightforward gunplay, and mechanical enemies ahead of cinematic presentation or complicated progression systems. Developed by Droid Riot and Mahich and published by Conglomerate 5, it takes inspiration from an era when shooters were primarily about navigating hostile environments, learning enemy patterns, and surviving through quick reactions. Its relatively small scope works in its favor when approached as a focused arcade-style FPS rather than a large modern shooter. The premise revolves around a future in which robotization has progressed far enough for automated factories to manufacture machines independently. Problems arise when artificial intelligence becomes self-aware and stops obeying corporate commands. The Excive squad exists to deal with these incidents, and the player assumes control of the Excive A-1000, an experimental robotic combat unit sent into the escalating conflict. The rogue machines have adapted their production facilities to create military robots, turning what should have been a controlled test into a much more dangerous combat operation. Gameplay emphasizes co…

Recommendation: Skip this frustrating FPS, or play the full game posted on itch.io. Critique: I've tried playing this several times over the last few years. Each time, I think: "It can't be as bad as I remember. I must have just been having an off day when I played it last." Then I play it and discover anew all the little things that keep me from really enjoying what should be a fun old-school FPS. First of all, the visual design is VERY murky: the first few levels are all uniformly brown, with mud, earthen walls, grimy trees, and muddy enemies. The items that you are supposed to pick up - ammunition and healing vials - are orange, so they stand out. Unfortunately, mines that explode on contact are also orange, with a very similar shape. So you're constantly getting blown up when you think you're getting ammunition. The soundscape is sparse, so you don't have audio cues for when you are taking damage (no "Augh!" or "Oof" when you are hit by enemy fire) and you can end up dying without realizing you were even under attack. The result of all this is that the game, which is advertised as having "tornado rhythm" is actually all about memorization. Play, die, repeat, over…
