Vomitoreum

Metroid Prime meets Doom, all through the lense of H.R. Giger. This game is fun, charming, and can be surprisingly emotionally deep if you let yourself get hooked into its world. My only complaint that keeps this from being a master of its genre is the pacing. You get marginal upgrades handed out to you but plenty of them don't feel like they were worth the effort you put in to obtain them, and that goes even harder for your various weapons. You stick with your basic peashooter for what seems like ages, and when you finally do get an upgrade to your arsenal I wouldn't be surprised if some less patient players would have already thrown in the towel given the things you're expected to fight with that glorified spitball gun. Even still, once you start getting into the swing of things, the game shows its true colors in how it truly understands what makes a fun Metroidvania title. Keep an eye out for those Totems and Homonculus Critters, and get to exploring!

it is a pretty short metroidvania retro shooter the weapons feel good theres only 4 but they get stronger/change as you play the game the movement is very good feels solid you get a double jump which is great in combat and an air dash which you dont really get to use in combat but can on occasion its more for traversing the world the it is basically one pretty big map that you unlock new parts of as you play it felt intuitive for the most part but i dont know if i missed something but there is one backtracking part that you will most likely miss in the second boss but other than that very good the story i really enjoyed its a bit simple but you can find secrets to unlock more lore entries on a repeat playthrough the combat is not the games strong suit not bad just meh the bosses are pretty good though and theres some arenas in the final hour of the game that are pretty entertaining overall id give it a 7/10 i really enjoyed it it just falls short in terms of combat but everything else kicks ass

Great little metroidvania, with a rich atmosphere.

Game refuses to play in fullscreen on my main monitor and the windowed option is blurry as hell. No amount of fiddling with options or the .ini files fixes this. The game also loves to just waste your time with entirely empty corridors, long respawn times after death, and countless of extremely slow moving elevators. This makes the pacing of the game absolutely atrocious. Called it quits after I beat a boss and the only way forward was through water that immediately killed me, which caused me to respawn back to before the boss. Life is too short for ♥♥♥♥ like this.
