The storyline of Adelantado begins in Spain during the Age of Discovery. The Queen summons a brave and noble officer, Don Diego De Leon. She tells him about an expedition that was sent overseas to find gold for the crown. For a while, there has been no news from the adventurers. The Queen grants Diego the title of Adelantado – a governor and caretaker of the new lands. He is given a mission to find and, if possible, save, the lost expedition, as well as collect the much needed gold. One of the Queen’s ministers, knowing of Adelantado’s mission, wants all the fame and glory for himself. He hires a thug named Pablo Rodrigez to complete the mission first.

The game play itself is fun and runs smoothly. However-I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to others for two glaring reasons; Whitewashing of history and blatant racism in the sense of totally oblivious and ignorant (ignorant here in the true sense of the word rather than a insult) rather than maliciously intended which is the only reason I am even willing to look into these games at all. The game portrays the natives as clueless helpless people who don't care about the resources around them and openly welcomed and cheered the conquistadors as helpful companions who they are just so glad are there to help them out. Yeah, not joking at all here. I wish i was, There is problem #1. Problem 2: The 'cavemen' they have randomly jump out of holes in a sort of nod to lost world fantasy? dragging clubs with low brows, that whole low IQ look as they set out to demolish your buildings? All black. Yeah. Again not in the intentionally malicious style but just developers who somehow were totally oblivious. Again the game itself is fun, but the sheer disregard for history and issues related to color and race mean I cannot recommend this game series for any reason to anyone and …3 found this helpful
This game kinds reminds me of the clean the road time management games like Roads of Rome or 12 Labours of Hercules series, just with a more open movement and quests. You are quite limited when it comes to the approach how to solve the level and you can not save mid level which is a problem when some of the levels are half an hour long. I also felt the game was missing the ability to see the quantities of all the resources you have and the ability to demolish buildings you don't need anymore. I found it getting boring really fast and I walked away from my PC and let it farm resources quite a few times just to finish a level.2 found this helpful
Nice casual strategy game, with mellow, relaxing spanish guitar music. Also, a pretty cool story line. I like the sounds of the buildings being built. It is quite difficult for me to beat on any level other than easy though.
A good series of games with tutorial advice given when needed. Tight time management required.
It's a great, relaxing time management game.
great game
