Fun little Metroidvania that does a lot of things well. No focus on combat, but traversal and discovery. Fun gameplay mechanics, fair difficulty and some underused setting / plot ideas make this very well worth the time investment. Only things I could criticize is that the music and visual assets merely "do the job", but there is definitely room for improvement in a (pre-) sequel.1 found this helpful
I thoroughly enjoyed this game- it's short but the vibes are fantastic, if you enjoy the *exploring* side of metroidvanias more than the combat aspect then this is the indie title for you.
Wonderful game. Movement felt great, beautiful art style, fun exploration and story. Pretty impressive for a solo dev. Also there's some fun sequence breaks you can do which made me feel like a certified gamer. Highly recommend! Only complaint is that some of the later game movement abilities made platforming challenges too easy and obviated the need to use the early game movement abilities (which I also think were more interesting mechanically).
Loved this game, hope more people discover it. Auridia is an exceptionally well-made, atmospheric, low-combat, Lovecraft-inspired Metroidvania about a young woman exploring a lost subterranean city. The worldbuilding is top notch, and the larger design feels tight and polished. The game is mechanically engaging with interesting movement options, map design, and discovery... but this is like Metroidvania infused with a love of exotic adventures like [b]Another World[/b] (or even [b]Zork: The Great Underground Empire[/b]). This game really nails the 'under the surface' tension and the feeling that you're meddling in forces beyond human understanding. The best part of Lovecraft is the indirectness - what's unsettling isn't the head-to-head confrontation with a Cthulu-like demigod, but the idea of such a being and their unseen machinations. Auridia captures those cross-currents: compulsive fascination tugging in one direction; self-preservation tugging in another. A true hidden gem on Steam. Plays great on SteamDeck, reaching 100% is a very smooth and engaging 6-7 hours.
A really excellent game, with a lot to explore and some nice platforming challenges (just challenging enough to be rewarding, but not massively difficult). I definitely recommend it.
