About Belladonna

Belladonna is a gothic adventure game, twisted and dark. Take the role of a corpse girl rising from the dead in an abandoned laboratory, and unravel the mysteries concerning your own death and reanimation.

After the death of their young child, doctor Wolfram von Trauerschloss and his wife Belladonna are left to deal with the tragedy however they are able. The doctor launches into a dark obsession, devoting his life to the quest of conquering death. The madness spreads and Belladonna is soon dragged into the despair, but the tale takes surprising turns as the dead are brought back to life and the living are not to be trusted.

The game explores various themes, such as the role of villains and heroes, moral value systems and different kinds of horror. It’s a point-and-click adventure, and it will ask you to read longer texts which are inspired in style by Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus. This game is not scary in the way in which a Hollywood horror flick is scary, but it is certainly no child’s play. The story goes into an eerie place beyond life and death, and puts you into the mind of the unliving creatures and their worldviews.
Point and click that is messed up. Someone was probably smoking too much during this one.
Don't remember how I got this game and why (probably the style looked interesting). But I finally got to play it only now. What can I say. It's a point and click game. The problem is that there are barely any puzzles to solve and also it can be complete in an hour, and the story is about ten pages long. As somebodies first try at making a videogame it's not that bad, but charging for it... Cannot recommend.

Very disappointed in this point and click horror game. Why it got positive reviews I don't know. What took others around 30-40 mminutes took me 1h 15. I couldnt see things clearly in the game such as the small rope under the mirror (missed that) I had to see a walkthrough to see why i kept missing things. A glass of milk outside in the snow...i missed that....didnt see it..... I found items hard to see.. The texts you pickup through the whole game to understand the story? The font is cursive and hard to read and it gets worse and harder to read as you progress. The voiceover was good in sections especially the person who played Belladonna. The gameplay? I found some parts easy but others i didnt know where to go so had to refer to the walkthrough guide. Not to my liking overall. I was straining to read the tiny cursive font. I feel like they could have replaced it with legibile font or even allowed you to press SPACE to see NORMAL text like they do in horror games. The gameplay just drags ona and on....I was like....Just finish already.....then this lady wanted you to gather stuff like a brain, a skull...which mean backtracking all the way to the lab.... ohhh gu…

I enjoyed how gloomy yet cute this game's style is! The wlw/sapphic take on Frankenstein. The story and play send you searching for clues to answer that classic existential question: "Why am I here?"

I'm not really a fan of point-and-clicks, but I did enjoy this game's strong aesthetic, short runtime, tiny twists, and bold ending. I love how the main character gives every statue a silly name — very cute. Thanks to stooart for the walkthrough guide here on Steam. Some of the interactibles are small and easy to miss.

I bought this game several years ago. I remember it being new, and I was just beginning to play games. My first playthrough, I got to the part where you
poison the cat
, closed the game, and never reopened it until today. While this is a VERY short game, the story is so interesting and the art style is niche (so, naturally, I love it). It was too complicated for me to understand and appreciate at the age I was when I played it for the first time. I absolutely recommend this. Belladonna was ahead of its time. I'm going to look into more work by this dev. Now I'm trying to collect all the cards. If you need me, I'll be busy replaying this 50 times until I get all of them.
