COLLECTION of SaGa FINAL FANTASY LEGEND

A simple thumbs up or down doesn't really capture this one. If you played the heck out of these games in the early 90s on many car rides and want that nostalgia, then it's a thumbs up, although maybe only to own the ROMs legally. This emulation isn't the best; one hand, you can speed what what is a terribly slow game by modern standards, but on the other hand save states only work as quicksaves when you exit the game (so you have to copy the saves manually if you want to keep them at key moments). Despite the warning about adapting for modern tastes when the game loads, all that really changed is some items are renamed so that they're not brand names (i.e. no longer a Colt) to avoid getting sued. The game itself is pretty much as I remember. It is neat seeing the birth of the SaGa games' system; each of the three games has a different dynamic. In the first game, it's all about amassing money to increase your stats, but the monsters are there as well to change by eating meat (and then you accidentally eat the wrong meat and it all goes wrong). The second game in many ways is the closest to later games; characters gain stats by using their abilities (much like Final Fantasy …

It's pretty obvious that these games are supposed to come with instruction manuals, I wish they were included in some form. Aside from that, this is a really good port!

SaGa 1: I gave this a strong go for 2 hours, following a guide, but without QoL improvements it’s just too rough in 2026 for me to enjoy. SaGa 2: I liked this better than SaGa 1. Yet while it had a lot more structure, it was still fairly archaic. I enjoyed my time with it though and it’s incredibly limited translated dialogue was funny. The story was actually pretty engaging for a GameBoy game made back in 1990. SaGa 3: That was a cool little time-travelling JRPG. A little more straightforward than SaGa 2 and better balanced. The translation was all over the place though, hard to tell what was actually going on and why. I still don’t know what the final boss was other than a big evil blob that wanted to use a God’s power to flood every moment in time or something. These were all fun to play through. SaGa’s a cool series, I like how it’s mission statement decided on purpose to be jarring with goblins and other monsters fighting alongside military generals, kabuki thieves, and mechas. Plus your main character can be a robot, or a slime, which is funny. 7/10.

I have try to play Saga 1 (old name from game boy), It was very old system even import in steam but they didn't remake anything for new era and it was bad for new era player want to play this game :(
