SaGa Frontier Remastered is praised for its charming 90s RPG ambition, stylish presentation, and quality-of-life improvements like New Game+ that reduce grinding and padding. Spectacularly unhinged in every way. Poorly explained mechanics, nonsensical world, obscene difficulty spikes, unrealistic character motivations, plot points that can only be summed up as going from A-Z...I could keep going. SaGa Frontier is an unmitigated mess, but if you can get past that and enjoy the ride without necessarily understanding why - you might just have a great time. If you like the original, get this. if you're new, don't. if you do get it even though you are new be sure to follow a guide so you don't get locked in a dungeon that you can't leave until it's finished. my last bit of advice, don't grind like you do in other rpg style games as this game will punish you severely for it.6 found this helpful
The Remastered is awesome and introduces lots of quality of life improvements to this game. The biggest ones are the New Game+ that carries over your items, equipment and arts/skill. Since there are multiple heroes and when you complete one story you don't have to regrind again. If a hero appears in a previous story and you leveled that hero, the hero will appear with the same skills and magic unlocked! There is also a story section that tells you exactly what you need to do next to trigger the next story mission. All this cuts the game padding down significantly. This is a very hard game to recommend to newcomers unfortunately. The graphics and music are good and and it does have a nice charm about it. The main issue is that the overall stories just aren't very exciting to play through. Outside of the main quests, the side quests are (mostly) the same and the areas are mostly all the same so it becomes repetitive. There aren't really much changes to NPC or dialogue either. Rather than look forward to trying out a new perspective with new areas or content, the world just feels mostly empty.
