EXSTETRA is honestly a really beautiful game. It has that strong PSP‑era nostalgia, and the anime aesthetic gives it a lovely charm that’s hard not to ignore. The animated cutscenes are beautiful, expressive, stylish, and has personality. It feels like there is something special here. Something that makes you want to like it. But sadly… the charm isn’t enough to fix the problems. When you turn on fullscreen from the settings, the screen goes completely black and you have to restart the entire game before you can see anything again. And in the city, I did everything spent all my money, visited every event spot, tried every interaction and the game just froze in place. No matter what I tried, the story wouldn’t progress at all. No matter how pretty the game is, it’s hard to enjoy something you simply can’t play. Overall, EXSTETRA has heart, style, and a beautiful retro feel… but the technical issues completely break the experience. I truly wish it worked, because it could have been something amazing.21 found this helpful
This game is awful. A terrible story that rips of Conception with paper thin, tropey characters, with repetitive and monotonous combat in a battle system with some initially cool ideas. The dungeons are repetitive and boring, that feature the same enemies. game is best played on easy mode with auto battle on. some of the battle themes are good, alongside the few orignial event themes, but the dungeon BGMs are so awful they're hilarious. The charater artwork is nice, and the actual remastered visuals are alright for a 3DS port. Game ran fine on Steam Deck (docked and undocked), though crashes on PC. Easily the worst game I've played this year.3 found this helpful
Exstetra is a genuinely fun game with enjoyable battle! That said, it has definitely been a little quirky, to say the least, getting it running right. Folks will find it helpful to follow the Discussions, where a lot of this is being documented. I'm very glad to see the developer studio has embraced this process and is participating in the discussion threads actively. Applause for that! My bet is that all the initial problems are going to get worked out here. For me getting this running -> first and foremost: under the Title Screen Settings on my particular system (a relatively recent Alienware desktop with Nvidia graphics card), it was absolutely essential to set 'Adaptive Sync' to "Off". When this was set to "On", all manner of problems showed up during the 3D sections of the game: stop-dead stuttering, frozen animations, etc., which made the game unplayable. Setting 'Adaptive Sync' to "Off" cleared all of this up for me. With this, as well, I've had no trouble playing at Fullscreen. Also in the Title Screen Settings, selecting 'x-input(xbox)' as the controller type and 'A/B' for Operation[Accept/Return] straightened out the button mappings, with Steam Input enabled under the…3 found this helpful
Pure garbage , just crashes at first cut scene1 found this helpful
If you're playing this game, you'll need some time to adjust to the control (coz the port). In the first hour of playing this game i'm confused but after a few hours can finally adapt to it. Gameplay is pretty simple and fun, but the in depth mechanics is a bit confusing because there's no explanation for every thing (guess we just need to figure it ourself). I grinded through this game with only like 50-60% knowledge of game mechanics (in standard mode) Also i had the game crash after 4 hour playing and i forgot to save so have to repeat those dungeon again 😭. Strongly recommended to frequently save the game since we can never expect when the game is crashing. Plot is kinda simple but enjoyable because the character dynamics is good. The problem is it's so tedious to unlock all the ending, so i finished the game only after 1 ending. Overall a somewhat nice and unique experience *especially the EXS mechanics (since i rarely play console game), would recommend if you're searching for a casual dan fun game to play!
