Here Comes The Swarm

im so happy to finally have a good rts to play!

I wish i could give this a middling review. It is fine. There is a significant lack of variety, the first few minutes of every game are identical. The developers added a bit of variability with a talent system based on each god but it ends up being stale. I think a few more units with a few more towers would have made a huge difference in the feel of this game. once again, not bad not great. it's just barely a positive review.

I'm not sure why, but it seems Here Comes The Swarm has slipped under the radar and it shouldn't have. If you liked They Are Billions this game is for you. If you like the RTS genre this game is for you. If you enjoy tower defence games this is for you. If you enjoyed Diplomacy is Not an Option buy this game. This game is excellent. There are hundreds of hours of gameplay here and it's still in EA for only 17 sterling. My ONLY gripe is the lack of unit diversity. But it is in early access.

The rising difficulty without forcing "no pause" give interesting long term challenge without needing to be a god tier player.

If you love old school RTS games this is the modern game you want. So many of these kinds of games try hard but I feel miss that nostalgic itch. This game is fairly simple and straightforward and that's why I love it. I sat down and within 30 minutes my old RTS roots were firing on all cylinders and I felt right at home. We do not need a complicated economy or manage a million things just low key and simple and I deeply appreciate changing game speed as a true RTS and 4X fan I enjoy a nice long slow burn game playing at my own pace. Also being able to pause and look around the board is a chefs kiss thank you for this feature. This allows you to stop the clock and strategically think about where your choke points could be placed what you should build next or how to best improve a wall point that isn't up to snuff.
