[i]Home Snatch[/i] is a very short horror walking simulator about a Bulgarian gang kidnapping people from their homes for gruesome purposes. You are one of their victims, trying to escape their capture. There are some very mild jump scares and a couple of gory scenes, but it's overall quite friendly to people who enjoy mainly light horror games. Currently, only the first four chapters are implemented, totaling around 30 mins of gameplay. The graphics are simple yet pleasant, and the cutscenes are quite nice. In the current release, the story doesn't conclude at the end of the fourth chapter. Instead, the game ends with a "to be continued" note, promising future content to be released. Very short and basic horror indie that might work better as part of the publisher’s horror anthology. The first thing to notice is that when you start the game for the first time, it will download additional resources. It takes a few minutes and does not mention what the download includes. I am assuming it is the Yahaha horror kit, which is an engine that powers all Yahaha studios games. The plot follows a man who is taken from his apartment by two criminals. Fortunately, the man is able to flee after his truck collides with a tree near a gas station. Now he needs to run from the second kidnapper across several locations. Sadly, the story is barely there and ends with a »to be continued«. Although the graphics are adequate for the low-quality horror genre, they are from several generations ago and do not look very good. Inconsistencies exist; some images are visible, while others are blurry. There are no subtitles and the voices appear computer generated, but that's not a big deal. The gameplay follows the standard indie horror template. Really cool indie horror game. Each chapter has its own challenges and the difficulty is well balanced. The price is also very reasonable for what you get. Definitely recommend it !1 found this helpful
Home Snatch feels like a work in progress. Maybe it IS a work in progress as the final chapter ends with 'to be continued...' But it's not just the storyline that needs some work. The gameplay is not intuitive at all; you're told to hide but there's nowhere to actually hide, and that's just one example. A lot of the deaths seem forced just to continue the story. The NPC's pathing is beyond terrible. The AI voice acting is super cringe and awkward. You don't need voice acting to make a good game, but at least use GOOD AI VA if that's the route you're taking. The environment of the game feels huge and oddly empty/abandoned. Home Snatch isn't a terrible game at all, but it's definitely not worth the current price and I'd recommend it only on sale.
