--------ABOUT LUCID9--------

Lucid9 is a visual novel focused on a web of intricate mysteries set in the fictional 2018 metropolis of Isamu. Inciting Incident is the first part of the story, where you play as Yama Ishimoto, a cynical high school student who would like nothing more than to keep his life free of school drama and hard choices. However, he’s forced to face his circumstances when an eccentric detective blazes into his life, alerting him of a string of brutal murders at his school.

As Yama furthers this investigation, he must dig through the secrets of the city, bringing him and his friends closer and closer to danger in the process. Every step leads Yama to the most unexpected - and terrifying - culprit…

--------DEVELOPERS--------

Lucid9 is being created by Fallen Snow Studios, an international group of visual novel enthusiasts who seek to make a VN by fans for fans. As Lucid9 is a passion project that has been created without any budget so far, we are aiming to release it free of charge in order to both engage established fans of visual novels, as well as introduce newcomers to this unique storytelling medium. We are working our hardest to make sure the rest of the story will be available for free as well.

--------UPCOMING--------
  • Free Voice Acting patch: All of Inciting Incident will be fully voiced in English by Yin Yang Voices. Recording production has already begun, but it's a deliberate and lengthy process. (This has been postponed indefinitely).
  • Second arc of Lucid9: We are currently working on the heroine routes, which will comprise the second part of Lucid9. They will be included in a future patch. There isn't any precise release date for this patch, but we will make sure to share progress regularly with all of you.

Lucid9 is a masterpiece and the most interesting visual novel that i've ever read. this game resonated with me so much, not because it was relatable but because it was so beautifully written. so much detail was put into creating a past for the characters and giving them distinguishable personalities. i can't believe that this game is free. i was able to play this game offline while on a 10+ hour flight, and it's honestly made its place in my heart as a great memory of a game i played while traveling. i will seriously never forget this story. the main character yama ishimoto seems like a normal guy with a normal life but the way he thinks about things is unusual and this is prominent when you learn that an event in his childhood altered the way he processes his memories. he got into an accident when he was a kid where he lost his sister and got a severe brain injury, this caused him to get memory lapses. as soon as it starts to seem like a slice of life type of visual novel, you get hit with a plot twist that completely redirects the story in a new direction. people start dying, and yama is approached by a detective named shigure. after a bunch of riddles, he becomes shigure's…

For how good this VN is, to see that it's free is crazy. I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of it even though technically the story is unfinished. Sure, it may not look as pretty as all the big and popular VNs but this does not make the story less interesting in any way. It does have this homebrew(indie) vibe to it but overall i think this is a very solid murder mystery with psych elements to it. Characters are interesting, dialogue is witty, and it DOES NOT go too heavy on inner monologue all the time - a pitfall many big titles fall into, so, no complaints here~ I was also happy to see that the making of full version was not abandoned and there are updates on game's Kickstarter page. Keep it up guys, you're doing great and i wish that the full version sees the light of day :>

Lucid9 follows Yama, a teenager with a very nihlistic (though earned) outlook on life. As his highschool life goes on, a series of disappearances piles up and he and his friends soon finds themselves in a very dire situation. The atmosphere changes from lighthearted to bleak, friends distance themselves from him; can Yama even trust any of them? Is one of his friends the murderer? The game does a really good job of switching it's atmosphere at any given time, and also laying down crucial hints in moments you wouldnt think about otherwise. The slice of life moments are good, with a bit of romantic drama thrown in to spice things up I guess lol. The cast of characters are very fun (My personal GOATS are Yahiko and Akira and of course Shigure), they all have very distinct and weird ways of speaking. The mystery is very intriguing - at least to me, and there are sections where you can play detective and make up theories in a way in your own head with choices. Choices actually do matter in this game as well, which I think is neat. For my complaints, I would say the art is a bit lacking, but It really didnt impact me at all during the game; I just feel like CG's could've been used for …
