I wish I enjoyed this game more, but I'm afraid to say that I found Primal Fray to be just a bit boring and tedious. Enough so to the point where I didn't really continue to give it a chance. Let me start of with the positives: I like the artstyle. The pixel art looks nice, and the creature designs are interesting enough. Unfortunately, that's kind of where my compliments end. It's not like this is the worst game I've ever played, it's not insultingly bad or anything. It just feels a bit uninspiring. The sound design is lacking. The music is really forgettable, and even a bit annoying in how boring it is. The animations are sluggish - and I swear that sometimes, on the map navigation, my commands get eaten by how slow the game is. The gameplay feels like it should be a lot more involved than it is, but because of how tediously slow everything is, my brain kind of just turns off. I also felt like, at least at in what I've played, there's a disturbing lack of synergies. Not necessarily in that there are to synergies, but that making use out of them just isn't particularly worth your time. Tactical beauty - I'm a fan of this game. If you're fond of board games where you have pieces on the board that fight and interact using different abilities, Primal Fray is a dream come true in digital form. It's incredibly fun to collect different creatures and progress in the campaign. On top of it, there is a VS mode where you can play with other players on custom boards. An absolute must-have! 10/105 found this helpful
Quite fun turn-based tactical roguelite. I don't like reviewing games without having played them a bunch, but I feel like this game deserves visibility.1 found this helpful
Such a beautiful gem, loved it! I hope the game continues to get new updates. Please don't abandon it...
This is a fun, but difficult strategy game. It reminds me of Skylanders or Z-Bots; it's like you took some childhood toys, put them in a video game, and had them battle each other. The graphics are beautiful, there is a surprising amount of strategy, and it's pretty darn polished, especially considering a solo developer made it. Unfortunately, the game does get a bit repetitive after a while, but you'll still get your money's worth. The Good: Beautiful presentation The Bad: A little too difficult, and gets stale after a while The Ugly: Having a Tier III primal with full health get knocked off the island
Rating: 5/5 ★★★★★ Pros: - Great art style - A huge variety of primals - Good enough strategy part - Everything works great Cons: - Primals with area controlling skills are underpowered
