About Railroad Corporation 2

In the city's bustling heart, amid the clatter of trains and the bustle of commuters, your journey begins. As you step into your newly established office, a map spreads out before you, and with dreams of the corporation in mind, you're ready to lay the foundations of your railroad legacy. The city streets may be crowded, but your path is clear—forge ahead, build your network, and rise to greatness. Railroad Corporation 2 is a train tycoon game set at the turn of the 20th century, where you take on the mantle of a railroad magnate to start your new railroad corporation. Seize the opportunity of railroad electrification to lead the charge in the new era of trains. Strategize as you lay tracks, balance finances, deploy locomotives to ferry goods across vast landscapes, and outpace the competition. Onwards and upwards! Connect the region by rail to promote trade and supply your organization. Upgrade your tracks over time, unlock diesel and electric locomotives, and increase speed and efficiency to deliver more goods across the country. Control semaphores to control the flow of traffic, and keep junctions clear and trains running smoothly. Construct bridges, tunnels, or level crossings to manage a vast network of tracks and locomotives.
Establish cities, and cultivate their growth over time. Research and build industry production facilities, hospitals and banks, among other structures, to reveal unique benefits that will help your corporation thrive. Construct power plants to supply electricity to cities and railroads. Upgrade these structures to push your corporation to its full potential.
Resources becoming scarce? Unlock additional resources through geological exploration, and discover groundbreaking ways to develop the landscape.
Financial acumen is as vital as laying tracks and running trains. Analyze accounting reports to assess your fiscal health and make strategic decisions. Dive into the world of loans and bonds to infuse your corporation with much-needed capital, through the Financial Department. But tread carefully – each financial choice carries its own risks and rewards. Buy low, sell high, and shape global commodity prices to your advantage. But remember, every trade has consequences, and your actions can ripple through the market.
With the Lobbying Department, influence government policies and local regulations to your advantage. Whether it's securing tax breaks or reducing construction costs, strategic lobbying can give you the edge.
Build new departments within your corporation, such as research, financial, and lobbying departments, to open up new opportunities, such as researching new locomotives, establishing new settlements, and issuing bonds. Hire and manage staff within each department, leveraging their passive abilities to enhance your operations. As you expand and upgrade your departments, you can attract and recruit higher-level employees who bring even more productivity, pushing your corporation towards greater success.
Grow your corporation through the campaign mode! Test your skills and compete against your friends for prominence in online multiplayer. Forge partnerships and work together in co-op mode, or focus on your solo corporation in Sandbox mode. You can even start your railroad career on your own, uniquely customized maps! The choice is yours!

The game sadly is not ready yet. It contains multiple game breaking bugs and it lacks gameplay optimizations. Literally started a hardcore sandbox playthrough(maxed everything out), played through it for 2 hours, then out of the blue i got hit with an audio duplicate bug. I manually saved, appeared as "saved successfully" then I alt-f4'd. When I re-entered the game, the manual saves together with auto-saves are gone, the earliest one was from 2 hours prior when I actually started it. 4 months ago when I played, It had major railroad building bugs. For a game released 5 months ago, the amount of bugs are too huge to justify the pricing.

I've enjoyed playing this game but there can be a lot of micro management in the harder levels that starts to take some of the fun out of it for me.

Good strategic version of a railroad mgt game. Like the increasing difficulty while progressing. Needs a bit more finetuning here and there, but even in current state already worth buying and playing

A promising game that need s to cook a little longer. The good: reasonably long campaign that is moderately challenging. the bad: bugs, limited options for multiplayer or single player play.

I've been waiting years for a modern version of RRT2, this game checks most of the boxes. Where to start? The track laying system is so easy to use, and it places signals automatically as well as bridges and tunnels. It is also super easy to delete track if you want. The stations are kind of the star of the show here. They not only do all of the typical station things but each one acts like a switch yard. When the track is clear the train will be placed on the track it needs to be on to get to its destination, regardless of which lane it entered the station from. This eliminates a lot of little pieces of track for trains to cross over to other lanes. My first game 3 hours in and I had a huge layout running smooth as butter. Then I went broke, yep, this is a game after all, and the financial aspect is a big part of it. You don't want to get behind on your research either, there is a steep punishment for using out dated equipment.

It's a good game. I've now finished the campaign after about 40 hours, but I plan to play some more. I think it's better than the first game in every way except that it's not very easy to play with just the mouse. I'd recommend it if you like these sorts of management games, and I think it's worth the price. Edited to add that the game runs great on my ancient PC that might as well be steam-powered.
