About Railroad Tycoon 3
Build transcontinental rail empires across 25 historical scenarios, managing locomotives, cargo economies, and stock markets while laying track through stunning 3D landscapes that scale from continental views to intimate train details. The franchise reaches new heights with its advanced 3D engine, dynamic economic systems, and expanded multiplayer support alongside an authentic Americana soundtrack.
The new 3-D engine takes the franchise to the next level, allowing smooth scaling from an 'eye in the sky' view of an entire continent down to super detailed close-up of a beautifully modeled train, building, or just the landscape.
Railroad Tycoon 3 also includes more multiplayer support than its predecessor, integrating an on-line chat and matchmaking service. To top everything off, the game's soundtrack features another installment of some of the best authentic blues, bluegrass, and Americana music around.
Multiplayer available in LAN mode only.

to old and to slow
Really nice game! Did play it on cd at least 500 hours
Uninstalled and contact Steam about a refund prior to writing this review, but wanted to put it out there for folks to know: Even though the store page specifies, "Starting January 1st, 2024, the Steam Client will only support Windows 10 and later versions," the game does NOT actually work on Windows 10. My experience is that the game would launch, play the intro, and crash about a minute into it. I would verify the files and it would say two were missing and the game would do the same thing on a second launch after that. Without verifying the files each time it's even worse, going straight to the menu when you launch the game only for it to flash on the screen for a moment and then crash. Some people have indicated there may be a fix for this, but it involves downloading a third party patch, which understandably is not something everyone may be keen to do.
My favorite game of all time, was literally playing it last night, this morning, STEAM UPDATE BRICKED THE GAME!!! I AM BEYOND PISSED, EDIT: FIXED find the discussion thread for running on win 10/11, Mr. Skinny, it worked for me
This is a fun building strategy game. I enjoy the built in challenges. It's highly relaxing to play and doesn't include any resource gathering.
An old game with somewhat outdated menu design and rather poor graphics, but a fantastic economic engine and good map design. Can be run on a brick. Worth it despite the minor annoyances
