About Sailaway III

The most realistic sailing simulation game available. On a global scale, in real weather, ready to be explored. Made by a sailor, helped by the joined effort of sailors from all over the world. -----Sailaway comes with 2 basic boats (a 38' cruiser and the small Nordic Folkboat). The rest of the boats are made by other sailors like you and are sold separately by them. This also applies to most of the boats you see in these pictures and videos.Compete in races organized by virtual sailing clubs. Sail on boats designed by fellow sailors. Trim your sails for the best performance.Face the biggest storms, circumnavigate the globe or make that journey you always wanted to make. Push yourself to become a better sailor.

Not everything is about better, faster. Enjoy a comforting and relaxing experience. Sail at your own pace, in the part of the world you like best. All alone, with friends or with other like minded people. Sailors will relate to each other wherever you go.

Learn astronavigation with the build-in sextant. Experiment with finding the best sail trim by using the visualization of air flow along the sails. Learn navigation with the buoys and other seamarks that are all present on the map and in the world.Design your own boat, create your own digital or analog instruments. Or create your own hardware set up with the build-in library of blocks, shackles and winches. Make the world a better place by creating ports and docks. Plant trees. Place 3d models of iconic lighthouses. Make tutorials for other sailors. Sailaway provides the framework, the sailors fill it with content for all to enjoy. Join us and become part of something big!-----Sailaway comes with 2 basic boats (a 38' cruiser and the small Nordic Folkboat). This "game" is unplayable. I was unable to get through the most basic of tutorials, because of bugs. Get and raise the mainsail - ok the mainsail disappeared, and it is not coming back. "Look at the telltales" - there are no telltales. "Trim the mainsail" - mainsail doesn't move. The controls are unusable. This is incredibly bad. It isn't even a beta. How is this even a release?

Download went great, install went great, there is a learning curve. I've been using the included Guide and Tutorial Videos to slowly learn each step as I need them. I sailed for a week and have now entered my first event to try and get the achievement. I'm in a solo event called Crimson Wake Pursuit that has 9 different legs or phases and is a sailing of the Caribbean. I love that i can do real time sailing with real, local conditions, any where in the world. I'm actually learning a lot and hope to someday be able to shut off the GPS and learn to navigate with the Sextant and stars. I'm having a blast!

While i recommend this game for people who want to sail, i feel like i should start with some "reality checks", because this game is buggy, and requires you to turn off your VPN in order to sign in. After 2 days of sailing, i was suddenly stuck in the loading in of the world, and it seemed like there was nothing i could do about it. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game did nothing, but eventually i realized that there is a button combination (right shift + left shift + R) that resets your settings, and after doing this the game FINALLY logged me in. I could not find any information about this issue when googling it, so it was pretty frustrating... Its cool that they have the entire world, but for anyone thinking it will be interesting to see their home town and other places in the world, this is NOTHING like MS Flight Simulator 2024. The rough outline of the map is correct, but Buildings are 110% generic grey buildings with some windows, the mountain slopes i checked out are very shallow angles compared to the steep cliffs i expected, and trees seem to just be placed randomly. Buildings and trees also have a very short draw distance, and the small city i checked out was not very…
