Unfortunately Steam doesn't allow a more mixed recommendation to games, but here is one that would get a mixed-to-positive review from me. As a long time DRPGer (since Bard's Tale/Wizardry/Might & Magic days), I heard a lot about these two titles and Experience's works as a whole. This marks my first experience with Experience as a whole. I actually finished Saviors of Sapphire Wings last year, and completed Stranger of Sword City Revisited this year. - Saviors of Sapphire Wings Quite a decent the game, but alas the biggest issues are the tedious story and visual novel-like scenes and really cookie cutter cliched characters. The mechanics are solid, but not much makes it stand out. Still, I completed the game in spite of its burdensome storytelling, and it was a decently ok time. 6/10 - Stranger of Sword City Revisited Cited by many as one of Experience's best, I immediately saw the improvements in terms of graphics and production value. But, also as cited by many, there is a deadly bug with keyboard input while playing with controllers. Weirdly, this was solved when I just played the whole game not in full screen but in windowed mode. Plus, one you have your characters created, yo…

sosw is a pretty decent game, nothing to write home about, by the numbers standard anime wiz-style crawler stranger of sword city, though... the art is a delight, the music is fantastic, the party building is a ton of fun, and the story - while simple - was engaging enough that i got invested in it. has some more punishing mechanics that make it hard to recommend to genre beginners, but for anyone with an interest in first person drpgs, highly recommend. it'll be janky though, so watch out

Played the original SOSC when I was a teenager, it had saves of one hundred an a lil more with just a single playthrough, language barrier, no guides, and still everysecond of this game felt like "Hey, this grinding is troublesome, but somehow enjoyable". When I was able to buy this game as an adult, already knowing what this was about, with understanding of English, the only thing that was "new" was the skill tokens "gone", still I enjoyed and loved this game, it's OSTs are epic and always manage to bring a smile/tension/sadness while listening to them. It's not a perfect combo, because being honest it's a bad port compared to the SOSC that's an individual purchase.

Saviors of Sapphire Wings is low budget with a pretty dorky plot, but it has a solid leveling and dungeon crawling system. Stranger of Sword City Revisited does seem like a lazy port since not being able to save like you can in Saviors is ridiculous. Plus the life point thing is very cute and a bit much. Undernauts is definitely much better than either one of them.
