[h1]Before I played The SOL Device, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good[/h1]

The SOL Device is a 2D retro pixel/stick figure platformer/shooter/puzzle game where you have a gun that creates temporary platforms that are needed to solve various platformer puzzles. It was slapped together with the godawful GameMaker Studio video game construction kit. While some effort went into making GameMaker Studio do actual game mechanics, none seems to have gone into the graphics and visuals for the game, it looks pretty bad. This is no surprise because GameMaker Studio is awful, so games made with it are universally equally awful. It's noble that the developer made this free after failing to sell many copies of the game, that's probably unsurprising due to the poor quality visuals. It's a shame to see some innovative ideas wasted on a poor quality GameMaker Studio implementation. I hope the developer can get employed by a professional game development company which can make better use of their talents.

This game is one of my favorite games ever. The simplistic graphics blend well with the somewhat difficult mechanics to form a great game filled with so many platforming puzzles, and there's a lot of room for creativity with the answers!
