Notes From Developer

"Undo the Jam Damage" is a delightful 2D platformer created in Godot, marking my debut into the realm of game development. This game combines a mix of free, paid, and custom assets to bring the enchanting world of Bruce and his jam-making journey to life. My aim was to assemble this project swiftly to deepen my understanding of game development processes. This experience has been an invaluable step towards crafting more sophisticated games in the future.

Eh. The dialogue felt like something that I would've written when I was something like 10 (if the references Bruce made were mainstream things back then). Capitalization seemed to be missing relatively often. The platforming requires just about pixel-perfect movement and I got tired of the jumping sound effect - which would have better fit Asteroids than jumping - very fast, so I didn't play far. The visual style is the best part of the game... it's all right. It's not bad but rather unremarkable. The biggest issue with it is that Bruce's sprites are blurrier than the rest of the game, which feels odd to me.

I wanted to like this game. It's a "too hard" style platformer, and some of the initial challenges are over-tuned to be almost funny. However, in the first level you are forced to sit through a ~5 minute dialog that had zero interest to me. I hate when people waste my time like this. After that, I finally got to play the second level, which was pretty fun. Though I could not figure out what to do at the start of the third level and gave up after about 5 more minutes. Pretty poor quality control here. Buy Eryi's Action instead.

Solid game, I love the gameplay, the idea, and the art. The difficulty is extremely high imo, but hey, if that's how the game is then that's how the game is. I suppose it adds to the attractiveness of finishing the game. There are a few things I'd change though. I think the movement needs to be fluid. In the current state, if I shoot, there is a small delay before I can jump. Also, if I land on a solid position, there is a delay before I can jump. (Like if I jump on one platform to another, and want to jump to the next platform, if I press space the moment I land, it won't jump again, there is a delay). This delay should be removed, for more fluid movement. Also, there is a large delay like a cooldown period after shooting twice, which doesn't match up with the delay between the first two shots. Other than the fluid motion and shooting, honestly a solid game, I would love to play more games like these!

This game's broken and therefore it's not possible to complete it. Asked in the discussion-section about that issue, but even after 2 weeks I didn't get any kind of response. So no, can't recommend a buggy game without any kind of developer-support.
