A basic action platformer with nothing that would have me recommend it to people. It isn't unplayable, but unless you are getting it cheap, there is little reason to even look at it. It most certainly isn't a Metroidvania style game, which is the only reason I spent my own money.

Remember the time when you had to beat a game in one go? If you're looking for this kind of experience, Xenia might be a good choice. The game is not really a Metroidvania in my book, but borrows a few mechanics of the genre. You beat one stage after another until you reach the final boss. Inbeween the stages you can upgrade your life bar or your skills in the shop. You can revisit formerly passed stages and grind for gold. All stages are fairly linear, having many breakable walls where traps and treasures await you. Bosses can be skipped if you take a "dangerous" route, but honestly, the boss fights are fairly easy once you get the orb (which you should get first from the shop). Playing the Normal mode, gives you checkpoints and lets you continue anytime after you quit the game, but this mode is way to easy. The true appeal this game has are the hard and the hardcore modes, where you have to beat the game in one sitting, without any checkpoints. The difficulty is pretty much the same as Normal, but Hardcore is over once you die, and Hard will let you restart the stage. It is full of bugs, I once killed a boss while I was dead. Numerous others as well, it's kinda embarrassing.
