About XIII
Play as an amnesiac super-soldier uncovering your role in a presidential assassination while fighting through a conspiracy-laden campaign in this stylish cel-shaded FPS remake. Experience brutal combat, stealth infiltration, and exploration across 34 levels, plus competitive multiplayer battles, all inspired by the iconic comic book source material.
WHO ARE YOU, REALLY?
XIII is the remake of the iconic action game played in first person view initially released in 2003. You play as “XIII”, a man with no identity, in a single player campaign full of twists and turns. Inspired by the eponymous comic book, the game features a unique cel-shading design entirely reinvented. XIII will also offer the possibility to confront your opponents through brutal multiplayer battles.

The country is still in shock after the assassination of President Sheridan. You wake up wounded, without any memory, on a deserted beach of the west coast. The only clues to your identity are the number XIII tattooed near your collarbone and a locker key. Despite your amnesia, you discover that you have the reflexes of a fully trained professional fighter. You take the road seeking for pieces of your past, finding out that you played a role in the murder of the President of the United States and uncovering the most horrific conspiracy in the entire history of the country.

Disclaimer: This review is only for the Single-Player campaign of the game. TL;DR: Decent game as a standalone title. A lot of content cut from the original, including enemies and entire cutscenes. Controls have been modernised which is a huge blessing. Different graphic aesthetic, but quite pretty in its own right. Much easier than the original; might feel a bit too easy for veterans. Story is more or less the same. Personally, I'd say that this is a good entry point for new players looking to enjoy the game. But it might not sit well with the veterans.

XIII is a remake of what is considered a cult classic, and whether it not it does the original justice is entirely up for debate. However, it definitely tries its best despite the cut content and the drastic stylistic shift in the graphics and overall aesthetics. It might serve as a good starting point for new gamers who want to check the game out for themselves as it does away with a lot of the annoying features of the original. However, this streamlining process might have taken things a tad bit too far as the veterans might find the game to be a cakewalk in comparison. The story follows a man w…2 found this helpful
It's bad, there is nothing salvageable from this. This is in fact one of the worst remakes I have ever seen made out of a good videogame.1 found this helpful
I dont think i can even get myself to finish this remake. Go get the original version instead and download the patch for it.
Today, my trust in Steam reviews died. The story is decent and the gameplay is mindless fun. I'd recommend to use a GPU with at least 6 GB to properly play it.
Played this when I was 14 lol, I didnt realized it was not the original, but it didnt lose the sense of being funny with the dialogs and stuff, its a pretty easy game to go through.
after all patches. the game today is really fun. and good price for what you get.
